Queensryche is definitely reinvigorated. Anyone who saw them back in 2012 when the Tate era was coming to its close knows that the guys were not nearly as energetic as they are now. You can see that they're enjoying what they're doing again, and that is the most important thing.

"I have been a fan since the early 1980's. When all the stuff with Geoff Tate went down I was bummed out. I figured there goes another great hard rock band. I am glad to say I was VERY wrong. Tod La Torre is the real deal! After I heard him sing the Queensryche oldies "Queen of the Reich" I was greatly impressed. Now with the new Condition Human I am glad to say like the band I am back. Congrats guys on the new record which not only holds its own with Operation Mindcrime but it takes the band back to a harder edged sound. This is one Queensryche fan who can stop holding my breath and enjoy seeing the band having fun again!!!" This not to say that Geoff Tate has slipped or that I would not like to see him back. Just that the new guy fits in real well and Geoff seems to be okay too. I will be buying both of the bands music.

IT'S OFFICIAL! QUEENSRYCHE IS BACK! This is the best I've ever seen them. Fucking amazing from start to end. Todd is kicking ass and his voice is just phenomenal! rockwell1544 The best you've seen them? Are you fucking for real? Queensryche circa 1983-2005 DESTROYED this version of the band. I even saw them live in 2009 and this is a PALE SHADOW of that performance.

All of you giving Todd such a hard time here, you all have to remember first they did Queen of the Reich as their first encore song.. that takes some serious balls. Usually that's the opening while to vocal chords are fresh and not tired and worn after a full set. Second they have been touring a lot since Todd joined. I think they're on the road more than they're home. So give him a break.. when he's fresh he nails it. Just like any singer. I've heard Bruce Dickinson fall off key a bit especially near the end of a long tour.. so..quit hating

Todd has NOWHERE near the CLEAN high range that Geoff used to have in spades. When Todd tries to go high all he does is scream. Geoff not only used to go HIGH without screaming, but used to be able to sustain that high note for MANY seconds. Todd's not even in the same universe in raw talent as Geoff used to be circa 1981-1987. Geoff was still better than current day Todd at least up until 2005.

I saw this shit back in 85 when Geoff could still sing. Todd is doing a decent job in bringing the classic QR to the masses who never had the opportunity to see the real deal. But still? The morality/ethics are "somewhat" questionable on this matter. I wonder what Chris (who wrote a pile of this stuff) thinks about it all? The performances on this are pretty strong and that says something about the commitment that these guys have as far as the legacy of Queensryche is concerned

I like Todd's tattoo on his left arm of the Tri-ryche...might be a bit presumptuous, although perhaps he got that to cover up the Crimson Glory tat and what is that on Michael's chin? Has he been playing with a paintbrush and glue while watching a particular Laurel and Hardy film...like Busy Bodies! Oh! and why no songs from the Empire record, admittedly not everyone's cup of tea but bloody good none the less. As for the concert it was good to hear some of the old classics.

Indeed, they got off on Anarchy-X, but recovered. It happens. But this lineup is the best it has been since the Warning-Mindcrime days. Tate is a sad shell of his former self and is a complete embarrassment. Kicking him out was the best thing for this band. Not only does he suck ballsack now, but he's a complete douchebag. Todd kicks his ass all over the place. And the kid, Parker is amazing. Nobody can replace DeGarmo, but he is filling the shoes and I have faith in this band again.

There are times where this sounds awesome, and times it doesn't.... That's what you get when you are running live sound for multiple bands; I run Live Sound; its not easy..... Both bands have their stake; I like both bands.. but remember the lawsuit, that was not only about the name but on song rights. So there some songs that he is not allowed to play..... that's why we have the cds and the dvds to remember to good old days. Todd and the band, can play practically everything cause they retain the band name. I li9ke them both for different reasons, But so far The Key is my fave in a long while........

Todd can hit the notes, but his voice lacks fullness and character that Tate had (note.. I said HAD). Wilton sounds like he doesn't care anymore. The "other" guitarist is just plain awful. Makes me sad when I think about the shoes he's trying to fill. DeGarmo and Wilton were "THE" dual-guitar team in my youth. Scott still hits 'em hard though. This is such a letdown from my memory of the Rage & Mindcrime era shows.

Having to replace Geoff Tate is never an enviable task,and I won't judge either side for the split.A lot can happen in a 30 year marriage and divorces usually turn out to be ugly.However it seems Todd is struggling in the upper registers at times.

The band has definitely been revitalized since Todd joined, but my one com plaint is that they seem to be stuck on the same "oldies". Warning, En Force, etc. ever since the first show with him, they have only added NM156 and Nightrider. Why not bring out No Sanctuary, Deliverance, Surgical Strike, Before the Storm...

+Kevin Richards Rock the Stage NYC I think the point was that they're been playing pretty much the exact same setlist for 3 years now, give or take. They did a rather poor job of promoting the S/T on the tour, and even after they had settled things in court, they continued with this setlist that screams nostalgia. I hope they start turning the boat around when the new album hits the street, as well as when they're going on tour with the Scorpions. PS. You're doing a great job of talking sense into Tate's mindless fanboys, even though they refuse to face the truth about Tate and DeGarmo's exit.
@TotalSinging
@TotalSinging 9 жыл бұрын
Simon Christensen The S/T album tour was to establish the new line-up with fans by being new but familiar. They couldn't fill it full of new songs. These guys were kept from playing, and the fans were kept from hearing, a lot of these songs for almost 20 years so they've been itching to play this stuff again. I'm sure being able to play "Enforcer" again was a huge thrill for them. I'm sure they'll start working in newer songs on the next tour. Tates tours have been mostly older material as well, basically filling most of his show with "MIndcrime".

From 12 dislikes to 56 overnight. Looks like the astroturfing Tate fanatic used 40 or so of his/her accounts last night. Too bad it's still less than half the people who liked this. Anyway, great job guys (after an admittedly rocky start)! Much better than when Tate and his band stunk up Monsters of Rock 2013.

It amazes me how many experts comment. Degarmo quit. His last record blew rocks. Tate is gone. His direction was the downfall of this band. New members. A buzz surrounds the band. Two incredible releases. Dont like it? Please leave. More than enough of Tates vision out there for you.

Seems like an okeyish setlist but meh... Like the biggest metal festival in the world and they don't play anything from their commercially most successful album. Not like the songs from warning and rage aren't good but should've fitted in something from empire. And nothing from their latest album either, where the songs are made for Todd to sing... *sadface*. Todd sounds good but even deaf hears that he's no Geoff.

Lol who cares about Tate. So many people were better than him even back in the 90's...Lance King, Chris Salinas, Roy Khan, Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin. Wilton and DeGarmo could have fired Tate's ass anytime and everything would have been just fine. Too bad Wilton and DeGarmo didn't do it back in 1997 and save us twelve years of mehness. Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton however....both very difficult to replace. They were the main songwriters and the magic behind the first five albums quality. The self-titled was a step in the right direction, but Condition Human is going to be the true test to see how far they can go creatively. I have no faith in Geoff though....Kings & Thieves and F.U. were both shit and The Key sounds uninspired. He's nothing these days. I would have loved to be at Wacken this year though: Todd is dominating here and in great form. His pitch is perfect. :)

Buck Norris I've seen a lot said about DeGarmo, but I've never seen anyone as disrespectful and nasty as you in regards to the things you say about him. You should be ashamed.

Buck Norris You know so much and yet at the same time you know so little. Wilton had nothing to do with DeGarmo leaving: Tate wouldn't show up and play ball or accept other people's ideas and so DeGarmo had to step in and play mediator between everyone else. Unfortunately, you are under the flawed and blatantly false perception that Geoff was the "only one" who DeGarmo had a great working relationship with. Chris and Wilton were closer: hell, DeGarmo called Wilton his "brother" on multiple occasions. Geoff's "vision" for QR involved cutting out the original band members after DeGarmo gave up and making the band more of a revolving door so he could write with other people. "My way or the highway". Unfortunately, real bands don't work that way. You need real communication with your existing band members or its not a band anymore. Geoff doesn't care about that. That's why a Geoff-led QR was crap and why every one of his solo projects (so far) have been miserable failures. He wants to be Todd Rundgren, Peter Gabriel, etc....but he doesn't have the chops to pull it off like those guys can. I'm sure The Key will be better than F.U....hell, anything would be better than F.U. at this point...but until you wake up and acknowledge that Michael Wilton and the other founding members are just as "relevant" as Geoff was, you'll just continue to be miserable. Grow up kiddo.

Buck Norris Sorry, but I don't agree at all. If that were actually true about Wilton, he'd have no songwriting credits at all on any of the original albums. The truth is that Geoff just didn't want to work with him or accept his songwriting contributions after Chris left: simple as that. Geoff's reputation as a domineering asshole was established LONNNNNG before the band ever split up: fans had been taking note of it all the way back to Q2K. He's such a drama queen even Mike Portnoy when he was with Dream Theater commented on it during that big tour they did back in the mid 2000's. If I had been in QR, I'd have wanted out too. Who would really want to work with somebody as pompous as Geoff? He doesn't listen to other people.

Buck Norris Wilton did 'Reach' on HITNF, but since nobody was getting along it was up to Chris to do everything else lol. Come back when you have something interesting to talk about. La Torre may be a "bore" to a manchild like you, but he's certainly more interesting than you and Tate put together these days lmao...

Mixed opinion on this one. Lead singer needs to work on his vocals more... He falls of the pitch a bit much. The music's good, but it falls a bit flat; Doesn't have the right feel. See "Eyes of a Stranger" for example. This song should be speaking straight to the soul. It doesn't. not here.

I Wear My Sunglasses At Night While Geoff's singing ability drastically declined over the years (starting as early as 1988 live) he still had SOUL and a haunting quality to his vocals. This is something Todd (the new singer) lacks in spades. He sounds generic and doesn't fit in.

Danimal300zx he falls off of the vocal spectrum rather easily. He needs to immerse himself in the band's legacy. Don't get me wrong, the new guy is decent; but he needs to practice more.

Not to mention that the constant travelling and EXPOSURE to hundreds of new people every day also puts you at a high risk of getting ill. Add that to Todd's smoking habit, and you get a good base for blocked/infected sinuses.

Wow. This is terrible.. Todd sounds like a crying goat. Whats with that huge fuck up on Anarchy X? Tate may not hit the high notes anymore, but his band is a lot tighter live. This sounds like a cover band now.. Sad to see the road the QR world went. Guess thats what happens when you try to live the past.
