A neighbour tossed a McCulloch Mac 120 in the trash and I was lucky to grab it before anyone else. I cleaned the exterior, added some gas/oil mix and she fired right up. The muffler is loose, and this video will help me with the steps to get to the muffler. Looks like only two bolts and I'm there. Thanks.

It was a very helpful video. I also own a Mac 110. The carburetor wasn't working well and the engine didn't start, so it had to be overhauled. However, I just couldn't figure out how to remove the carburetor and couldn't repair it until now. By referring to this video, I can also repair it. Thank you.

Can anyone please give me the sizes of the crankshaft oil seals for the mac 120. Internal & external diameters , also the width. I have looked for these on line but no luck, unless another model would fit. Thanks for a very informative & well presented video. The best I have seen.

Today I found one of these MAC120 while cleaning out a customers rubbish . It was complete . I took it home , checked spark was good. Then used a squirt of fuel into carby and it ran for a second. I began to see how to take carby . I started pulling apart slowly . Ended up with it in bits and couldn’t get motor out of back case. Rang a guy I know who fixed mowers for a living . He said there is a good bloke on KZbin who will show you . Anyways I didn’t listen to him and kept going at it . I come so close to giving up and smashing it on the ground. Step by step I pulled apart carby and top diagram looked new. I used some compressed air to clean the carby . Refitted and cleaned coil and gapped. Slowly slowly it was going back together . Got to the stage where I could test start it . To my disbelief the engine started after four pulls . So it’s back together now but I have oil pissing out the bottom. I did guide the hose onto the tank . Anyone got any ideas? Do they crack the tank or is there a valve that gets stuck or hoses split etc . I’ll have another look tomorrow. Cute saw but absolute bitch to get to carby .
@BuiltNotBought51504 жыл бұрын
There’s a molded plastic barb type fitting at the bottom of both tanks. The one on the fuel side is the one that you can remove and also the one with the fuel line. Directly opposite that is the chain oil one, and it’s part of the tank. When pulling the tank and engine assembly, you’ll notice that they aren’t fixed to one another. With that said, the Molded sitting on the bar and chain side that holds the oil on the tank, slides into the Oiler port on the engine assembly. Once the tank and engine are loose from the housing the oil tank will likely not be matched up to that port. I’m putting it back together you have to keep checking and making sure that it’s staying in the correct position by peeking up underneath while you fiddle with getting all the other parts back together and that’s like needing four arms and eyes if you’re not super mechanically inclined and not equipped with the correct tools for each step moving forward. Good luck

Love the videos. I have A 110 that has no spark. I just want to break-it down to check the points and coil but it seems that parts are not available for this? A lot of work just to find out that you can’t get parts. Any comments are appreciated. Thank you snd great video.

@kelvinsparks46512 жыл бұрын
@@waylonlegend4603 I've only had time to get one up and running andd the problem with that one was the ignition condenser. I got a similar size new one from a car parts store and modified the bracket too fit and now it performs like new and starts in a couple of pulls . Hope this helps, good luck.

Good video. Why not remove the tank before removing the engine, that will also make it easier to remove and reattach the throttle linkage from inside the housing. That tab on the bottom is actually on the tank of the Mac Mini 35 which is almost identical to the 120. They didn't put the tab on the fuel line until after the Mac Mini 35. I also do not remove the aluminum handle nor remove the bolt by the spark plug.
@ManicMender6 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question. I removed the tank with the engine in this video so people could see what it looks like assembled in the case, and so we could check for fuel leaks at the fuel line connection.

I found one of these in a barn. 1978 and absolutely mint . Bar and case paint are like it was used once or twice and set down yesterday. I put fuel in it and she fired right up . Every part is original and nothing missing..it even has the bar sheath and scrench . I can't find anything on the internet that is nearly as nice to compare it to . Does anyone know what it could be worth? I may put it in an online auction it's so nice i can nearly appreciate it the way some fellas will. I posted it on craigslist barter for Rochester NY if anyone wants to check it out. She is purdy!

Hello could you help me.. i rebuilt the carburetor on my 130.. i noticed oil leaking from exhaust area.. what does that mean?? I got no start.. i haven't checked the points.. im no good with electrical..i also played with the throttle and idle screws and nothing..has clean fuel. It has spark..
@remb96145 жыл бұрын
Mine have the leaky exhaust too it will go away once its running. Try setting both hi and lo jets and idle screw 1 full turn out from all the way in tight. That should be enough to make it run. If it wont run, put a little fuel directly in the carb. If it runs on that and shuts off, you have a fuel delivery problem.
