One of the greatest songs ever written and performed. SO poignant today.

This is a good version of the track. The track keeps rotating in my head every time I see what's going on out there and I get angry at how people are not giving a crap about what's unfolding in front of their eyes. Brings tears to me eyes..

Brought a tear to my eye once again and i am a man. Never be afraid of showing emotion. That's how amazing music is how it just does that to you, be it sad or happy. Music is kinda like magic in a way, it conjure's up amazement but will never vanish..

I bought this album when it was released all those years ago... it still sounds as raw.... every track. I've even had the privilege to sit opposite the great man himself in Maida Vale one day with my then little 5 week old baby boy, who's now nearly 7....... and he loves their music too!!! x

What a brilliant track. I'm not really a fan of the Manics. I don't like or dislike them. I loved A Design For Life, and bought the classic Everything Must Go album. When I first heard this I knew immediately what a great track it was. I'm so glad they took it to number 1. Just to show what great artists they are, and to be above all the dross that was around at that time. It was a moral victory for geniune great music against manufactured assembly line off the peg boybands who couldn't play an instrument to save their lives, or write anything meaningful. Whose audience and record buyers are impressionable 12 year old girls. The Manics, whether you like them or not, come from the heart and the head. A geniune pop/rock band.

I didn't encounter that advert, however I did encounter some advert saying some nonsense about celebrities. It's just the way YT is set up. Just tick the "x" and the ad will close, if it really bothers you, use KZbinTV (youtube.com / tv) and there is no ads to my knowledge using that - it's the application that the xbox360 uses to watch youtube videos, and many other devices.. You may have to go to the device page (it says go to such and such and enter a code to "enable your device" for YTtv).

I don't think this is 'perfect', only a select few pieces of music are really 'perfect'.. this is certainly a masterpiece there's no denying that.. and yes, it's utterly gorgeous (or a bit sick in a way - that fact that we actually need songs like this to exist for idiots to wake up..). Dark Side Of The Moon is perfect. Sgt. Pepper's is perfect. This is 'just' a good song with an even better meaning (all in my opinion of course and others' opinions are bound to differ hugely).

Oh well, I get " "Secrets of..." The KZbin account associated with this video has been terminated due to multiple third-party notifications of copyright infringement." message... but you sir are most correct about the public!. They mostly wouldn't know good music if it literally whacked them in the face!!..(from my so-far long life experience, the public just likes what they're told to like..). However good music will endure!!.....

Unbelievable - "If you tolerate this.." was apparently on a Spanish Republican recruitment poster (1930s). Huge irony how EDL doesn't know its history and that International Brigade Volunteers then were shooting at those sharing similar fascist views.
@clockerb11 жыл бұрын
Manic Street Preachers are seeking legal action against the EDL, after the far-right group used the band's anti-fascism song 'If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next' in order to promote an upcoming demonstration in Birmingham. The song, which takes its title from an anti-fascist slogan used in the Spanish Civil War, was used by the English Defence League in a video in order to entice newcomers into joining them in their fight against Muslims and logic."

The song has no significance to the covid situation (as some people have said) this song is about facing up to far right politics and remembering "the left" who fought in the spanish civil war, and question "the people" who know nothing of it ... people need to study and understand the lyrics!
@user39h2j8il2 жыл бұрын
All music, poetry and writing can be attributed to anything you want it to. Whatever is meaningful to you personally. Most musicians, poets, writers feel that way. Some of them don't ever explain their meanings, they leave that up to the listener or reader.
@merseydave12 жыл бұрын
@@user39h2j8il Oh you ignorant fool, this is a song about people who know "nothing of fasisim or the Spanish civil war" it is saying "if you tolarate this" meaning Ignorance ... facism will creep up and "your children will be next" dont you know that The Manic Street Preachers are a progressive (left wing-socialist) band? Yes many bands have unclear meanings to songs But This One is Very Clear ... you need to studt the lyrics.
