Apparently this song is about the Spanish Civil War I read in a BBC interview with Nicky Wire. I had no idea - I'm 40 and my 96 grandmother who's still very much with us was evacuated from the Basque region of Spain in the 1930s. World War II then intervened and she remained in the UK - moving to Wales with my Welsh grandfather in the early 70s and settling in the Vale of Glamorgan.

To add to the history observations: the song's title comes from a slogan of real republican propaganda poster from the Spanish Civil War and the line "If I can shoot rabbits, I can shoot fascists" is a quote from the book "Miners Against Fascism" by Hywel Francis. Chile, October 2019. We said enough is enough and we are fighting neoliberalism, healthcare, education, water, electricity, roads, and everything you can think of is privatised. Our salaries are very low, and our pension system is so bad people have to continue working after they retire.
