Another Update - Per ECFMG, In order to make life easier for most IMGS, for the first few years, even if your country does not have wfme accreditation after 2024, you can still apply with pre 2024 criteria (WDOMS Post 2024 + Sponsor Notes). Similarly for the first few years post 2024, even if your country gets WFME accredited, the individual medical school must also be in WDOMS + Have Sponsor Notes.

With due respect, there are several misstatements. If country's national accrediting body is not approved by 2024, students can still apply and get ECFMG certified. However, their ERAS profile will show that they are coming from a country that doesn't have WFME accreditation. And form 186 registration doesn't protect you against it.

So it's about the accredited council in your country not the school. What I've been told is that my Med school should be accredited by ECFMG directly not through the medical council.

registration done before 2024 will mean the new rule won't apply to you. the old one will. so you can give your step 1 and step 2 and get certification during or after 2024 without worry about it

India..pakistan..yemen..germany,austria, switzerland, portugal, iraq, czech, italy, greece, cameron, morroco, tunysia, argentina, israel, venezuela, are currently applying! Most arab countries including egypt, saudi, uae, are good for a few years now. Iran until 2029.. china many years.

How to find out which countries and medical councils of each country fall under WFME. And even if a particular country's medical council is not recognised by WFME, is it possible for the resident of that country to make an account or register with those that are recognised by WFME?

Check the link in the description. For second question, the answer is a no, however if you can get form 186 (ecfmg registration/certification of identification) before 2024 done, the new wfme accredition will not apply to you and you can still apply even if the national council of your country is not recognized.

I'm an Indian student studying in Kazakhstan right now Let's say that I completed my Under graduation in medicine (MBBS) from Kazakhstan, did 1 year Internship in Kazakhstan and got a licence to work as a doctor in Kazakhstan. Then if I took USMLE and cleared it (cleared all the steps). After that I did my PG (let's say a PG in Ortho for example) in the United States and became an Orthopedic surgeon. Then i decided to move back to my country (India) So my question is in this scenario will I be able to work as a orthopaedic surgeon in India? (Do note that I haven't taken the Fmg exam and didn't do 1 year internship in india, thus I'm not a doctor to begin with in India) So will I be able to work as a orthopaedic surgeon in India after all of these steps

She has various options of studying in Canada and US as below. Hi Dr. Manik I am Indian and have completed my 10+2 science with PCB and completed my bachelors degree in psychology from India itself. I am keen on attempting to apply to med school in USA directly. However , with my foreign bachelors , it would be difficult for AMCAS to recognise it. How should I go ahead with this without needing to complete another 4 years of pre med?
