I had an uncle that built several prototypes out of wood and paper and various other materials for projects, his main job was in making prototypes for engineering contracts. He actually had about 20+ test mockups, and 3 scale models for the Garage he later built on his property that was used for his cars, and his Truck With a Camper attached, as well as a Pulley System to detach and store his camper (1 model had a working pulley system as well). I understand the dedication some people put into small projects like these. My Uncle kept building scale models until his death a few years ago, and there were still alot of unfinished projects that my dad has decided to attempt to work on himself.

Hi, fantastic work. Absolutely Love it.👏👏👏. for a couple of years now I’ve been working on a similar project. A scratch build 1/24th scale B 17 F. With exposed airframe. I opted to use 0.5 mm plastic card sheets for bulkheads and formers and wing ribs. In hindsight that may have been a mistake. Manila folders would most certainly give my more flexibility and scope as well as reducing the cost. Additionally it will be easier to translate from print to cut. I managed to build half the fuselage and some of the inner wing section before inadvertently deleting my 24000 drawing pack from my ex hard drive. (Ever seen a grown man laugh and cry at the same time😂. ) My intention now, is to start over, remake and rescale all the drawings. and then make it again in a larger, (maybe 1/18 scale,)from Manila folder. I can’t tell you how much your project has inspired me to pick up and carry on. I was beginning to feel it wasn’t worth the trouble.. so Cheers. And Many thanks for the inspiration. 🙏

take it to a craft fair or builders fair .. and bring digital copies of the plans you have to sell ... $20 a set of plans and you could literally make money off them easy . as for the Boeing option ... contact Boeing and Singapore Airlines and ask about assistance in getting the models out on a display network ... either or BOTH should be willing to help in some way ....

Hi! I found out about this project yesterday, and I'm still amazed at the quality and realism of the build, I have watched both slat-mechanism videos and I get the piece of "paper" that runs through the wing, what I don't get is how if it is going side to side, the flaps can extend out, you mentioned that there is a piece of paper that moves and while it's moving it rotates and at the end it's the locking part for the flap, how are you handling the friction of that?
@kokoslegend48503 жыл бұрын
I think the moving paper has a part increasing in thickness as it moves through in the wing which will push another piece of paper, cut a square out of thick paper and cut it from one corner to the other to create two rectangles. Now slowly push one rectangle on the other, and one wil push the other away depending on which you are holding in the same place. Just like a car driving up a hill.
@kokoslegend48503 жыл бұрын
I don't know if that is what he did, because that still doesn't explain some things...
