Your fascinating work, expressed in a level of detail that surpasses even carefully conceived prototypes, is simply breathtaking. It represents to me much more than just art; it reveals a life philosophy that chooses the more challenging but more rewarding path. At the end of this path stands a work of art that transcends the individual and represents a legacy for humanity. The investment in every sheet of paper, the quality of materials used, and the countless hours of meticulous craftsmanship reflect the value of every single cut you make. Each piece you shape carries an aura of perfection that allows little room for error. Here, something is being created that is much more than the sum of its parts and its value extends far beyond what is visible in the end. Your videos documenting the creative process seem to me to be of almost greater importance than the final model itself. They showcase every precise cut, every careful adjustment you make to make each individual part nearly perfect. This process, though it may seem unnatural, embodies what distinguishes extraordinary individuals throughout history. It is a process of blood, sweat, and tears that I can only approach with the utmost respect. I am eagerly anticipating where this artistic journey will lead, and I am fascinated by the deep commitment and passion that are expressed in every aspect of your work. With every cut, with every folded sheet, you are not only writing the history of this model but also reflecting the infinite capacity of human creativity and precision. Just as the paper is transformed under your hands, so too is a small part of the world reshaped by your art.

Even the boxes are made of manilla paper. That's such a nice touch. I'm picturing a whole world made of the stuff. The materials science there would be crazy. It reminds me of the game Universal Paperclips, where eventually there are (spoilers!) entire spaceships made only of paperclips.

It's hard to put the process into words - definitely check out some of my other videos, but in general I'd say start making very very simple parts (not even necessarily from a plane) and adding complexity as you go. That's the best way to get in the head space for this kind of design/engineering.

It's great to see this! I wasn't expecting the paper to live through that stress. I have a question, how do you do the wing as it gets thinner the paper would have to curve in an extremely weird way along it.
@lucaiaconistewart
@lucaiaconistewart Жыл бұрын
Do you mean how I'll apply the skin to the leading edge of the wing, up near the wingtip where it's pretty thin? I don't see why it would be any different from what I had to do here, just have to "massage" the paper until it gets to be the right shape.

Luca excited your back! Are you still using Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky Glue, or experimenting with other adhesives e.g. elmers/CA/Duco Cement excetera? You have likely mentioned this but Is there a brand and weight of manilla file folders you prefer? Maybe "Display" examples built down the road could incorporate thin clear widowed cutaways to highlight (give a glimpse) of things like the internal thrust reverser mechanism. It's both a blessing and a curse as it all gets covered up; yet I understand being a stickler for 100% authenticity on a master model! Having watched the video on those inboard flap test models a year ago it was great having them to show that fantastic inboard flap mechanism. It gives the presentation that "audible gasp" effect that a true masterpiece creates. I know that would be my reaction seeing these mechanisms for the first time in person, it is in every video. By the way we all love and genuinely appreciate seeing more videos on the building tips, even building techniques in general. Every time-lapse construction and digital modeling video was mesmerizing! I love the ingenuity of your eraser block contour tool ;-] You could and should write a book on all this! Glad to see you are doing well whilst keeping your mind and hands busy still.
@lucaiaconistewart
@lucaiaconistewart Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yes, feels good to share some updates again. I am still using Tacky Glue and I find it works quite well for most things. The one drawback is how fast it dries when I'm trying to coat a large surface area. I use two thicknesses of file folders: • The thinner stuff I use on finer parts and for most of the skin, especially if I want it to contour it heavily: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IXM3AW • The thicker stuff is used for major structural parts, like the forward engine cowling, pylon, wingbox, tailfin, etc: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013CME9E I agree that I'd love to have some way to both have the model covered and see inside as well. Having all the test pieces will be a nice companion to the finished model itself, and will give a sense of the intricacy of the interior. But yes, the clear window idea has definitely crossed my mind! I'm just a strict adherent to the 100% paper mindset for now 😅
@_Medjoe_
@_Medjoe_ Жыл бұрын
Very informative! Can you expand on how you glue the panels to the structure? Does the glue you use shrink and do you have to compensate for warping after it dries?
@lucaiaconistewart
@lucaiaconistewart Жыл бұрын
I generally apply the glue to the inner structure rather than the skin, so that I know it'll make contact at the right places. Also, a little goes a very long way. I haven't really noticed much in the way of shrinking so it's not generally something I account for.

I basically start by looking at tons and tons of pictures and reference/technical drawings if I have them available. Boeing also released some overall dimensional drawings of the 77W which helped a lot just getting started. Anyway from there I start breaking down into smaller and smaller parts and figuring out how everything is going to work. It's a time consuming process!
