This is amazing, it's going to be hell making the other engine though. Question, will you ever paint this model? and if yes, what livery?
@lucaiaconistewart
@lucaiaconistewart 10 күн бұрын
This actually was the second engine! The fuselage did get "painted" in the Air India livery - you can check that video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWi1Y5-apqmrpKM The engines will eventually get a similar coat as well to match.

Very interesting video.. I am the proud owner of Minutemen Precision Machining and it is nice to see where the flap tracks go into the aircraft since we have been making them since 1991. P/N 's113W2556/2255/453 material 15-5PH

What's the brand of the paper you're using? It seems like it's unusually easy to form complex curves out of it, either that or it's just you make it *look* easy and the secret is not the material but skill.
@lucaiaconistewart
@lucaiaconistewart 10 күн бұрын
It lends itself well to somewhat complex curves, but there are still limits to what it can take. Here's the two types of paper I use: Structural stuff like the forward and middle engine cowling (and the wing box etc) I use this: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013CME9E/ For everything else I use standard thickness manila file folders. Lately I've been using these large sheets since I can cut bigger pieces to print on: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IXM3AW/

When it's says double thickness it means what? It has to be a 200gm paper ? :) I want to do it I'm not (crazy)

Maybe once I'm done with the model I'll make some, but it would be a full-time job just putting the instructions together! My plans are quite disorganized and poorly labeled (sigh).

@ Thanks you! I’ve been using the original tacky glue and I’ve noticed that it’s very hard to get out because of how thick it is. I would also like to know if I’ll experience the same issue with this one. I really appreciate it. 🙏 :)

It's hard to put the process into words - definitely check out some of my other videos, but in general I'd say start making very very simple parts (not even necessarily from a plane) and adding complexity as you go. That's the best way to get in the head space for this kind of design/engineering.

Oh man, haven't seen one of your videos in a while!! Freaking amazing work, I'm sure there will be museums that want to display your models! I'm just curious, would you ever, maybe for your next project, consider using a laser cutter to cut out your pieces? It would cut down on the time needed to cut everything out....

Laser cutters are awesome, I used them many years ago in school. But I wouldn't use them for this - I guess I'm a masochist and I love the process of cutting the parts out. Plus, they leave burn marks :/
