Some trains are from 1984 and it's still running to this day, but it will most likely be decommissioned soon because the government bought alot of trains for the LRT 1 extension to cavite

Are the trains air conditioned?

It's a hit or miss. I ride the LRT-1 frequently to get to my university. There are older units that don't really cool down the carriage and are hot and humid as if you're inside an oven. You'll get better luck with the newer carriages, which are usually cold enough to be comfortable, though some of them have weak air conditioning. The trains here don't get as cold as the air conditioning on the MRT-3, which I prefer since their air conditioning units are colder and consistently maintained. Rest assured that riding on this other line will cool you down from Metro Manila's heat. The MRT-3's air conditioning even gets to the point where you can comfortably take a nap while sitting.

LRT 1 or LRMC trains are junk! Poor service, trains are always defective mostly with airconditioning. Not recommending this. Ask the regular commuters about their everyday experiences and you will be shocked to know.

its down to their old 1st gen trains, the trains have seen better days na rin with AC issues, new trains are already been rolled out as of this comment
