கண்மணி அன்போடு காதலன் - பாடல் 'சாகா வரம் பெற்ற பாடல்'. குணா திரைப்படத்தை இன்றைக்கும் வியந்து பார்க்கும் பலரில் நானும் ஒருவன். I watched this movie on the release day (Deepavali, 1991), along with two of my hostel mates from MCC. Watched in Parangimalai Jothi theatre. Those two friends were from Andhra Pradesh, Telugu speaking, not so fluent in Tamil. But admired Guna movie more than me. Kamal's expressions are awesome in ths movie. Divine music from Maestro Ilaiyaraja. Amazing lyrics from Vaali Sir. Kudos to entire crew of this movie. Kanmani Anbodu Song is a master piece that will remain forever, சாகா வரம் பெற்ற பாடல் இது.

Like utharayamam- dhashinayanam. It will change accordingly. What i am saying is after manjumel boys victory in Tamil Nadu . There is news spreading about degrading the Tamil industry in local Tamil you tube channels. Flop of 1 or 2 films in a short span of period doesn't deside its destiny. As 80's mallu we grow up watch kamalhasan, rajnikanth movies simultaneously like mohanlal, Mammootty, jayaram, Suresh gopi's movies.(Especially Kamal movies)

Kamal sir films songs .. though the full credit goes to the Music Directors..It is the Kamal sir the great creator is behind the force who created the atmosphere for that songs ... Kallai mattum kanndal, Virumandi .. unnai vida.. even that kaalai maatu salangai oli.. gave the goosebumps .. unnai kaanathu ... mukundha mukundha.. this is just his contributions in wonderful songs.. and his contributions are endless. As usual .. if a person with his talent in Hollywood, or Bollywood would have got more recognition that what he is getting now... Tamil people dont know his true value yet. It is ILAYARAJA's timeless, soulful MUSIC that people go crazy for. But all KH fanatics are crediting ALL of it to KH as if he composed the music too! So much for KH's own Kamal-60 damage-controlling retort to Ilayaraja: "Ellaa credit-ayum neengaLe eduthukutta eppadi? EngaLukkum konjam micham veinga"! Manjummel Boys did NOT make the song/movie/actors famous! They all were ALREADY super-famous, enough to last for generations together. Those things made Manjummel Boys and the crew famous, instead! Thanks to the herd Thamizh crowd that made a good movie a flop back then, dubbing it "lunatic's flick", and celebrating a Malayalam movie/team for simply placing the SONG at the right juncture. Also, the album was a SUPERHIT even before the movie released in 1991; HAIL Maestro ILAYARAJA. The CLEVERNESS of the MB team is not only an appreciation of the movie/song, but also a MONEY-minting gimmick (more trending from last decade onwards) to rope in other states' cast to sell the movie in those states also!

I have watched this movie 4 times in theatres and numerous times in vhs, dvd and youtube. there are two types of audience. Even if it was released today, I don't think it will be successful. Large portion of audiene like Rajani, Vijay type of movies. Hero succeeds at the end.
