Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is yet another victim of this industry's unchecked avarice. It's an ironic victim at that, given the series' themes.

It's not that it was "designed" to be balanced with microtransactions, it's just that the game is so abysmally shallow the only thing to do in the game is grind to get the higher end-game ships and upgrades. Also the game reminds you way too often when your resources are low, when it should really only remind you when you're below 25%

Honestly. At this point I've already decided that DOOM is the GOTY FPS of this year. No pre-order bonuses. No micro-transactions. No 'innovative gameplay'. No 'broadening the demographic'. Nothing of that shit. It's just fucking DOOM. I wasn't sure what I felt when I was first playing the game, but now I realise that my fun was not *once* interrupted by some fucking pop-up telling me about DLC or some shit, not even during the loading screens. I played the game 100% through more then once and all I had to do was make the single transaction of 30 bucks on Steam to make that happen.

The worst fee-to-play game I ever came across was The Dark Knight Rises mobile game. It cost £10. £10 for a mobile game! I got in sale for a pound and felt pretty pleased... Until I went to play. The second level of the game involved using batarangs to take out alarms. There were 5 alarms, I had 5 'rangs. Simple. Until I missed one. I restarted the level to find... No batarangs. You see, they were consumables. I had to pay £2.99 for another 20 batarangs. The game was unplayable unless I payed. I quickly deleted it, only to fall for the same trick when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was on sale for a pound too, only to find that HEALTH PACKS and skins all cost extra cash. I feel for anyone who payed full price for either of these games. Screw Gameloft!

It sucks that a great game gets mired down in this shit, because you KNOW the Eidos team weren't the ones trying to pull this shit. Holy shit, now I *really* don't trust publishers with *anything*. Eidos makes the game, presents it to the publisher, and they say, "Needs more microtransactions." Fuck that. At least publishers allow some stuff to avoid that. Hell, Deep Silver seems to have avoided messing with the Risen series, and I hope it's because after Gothic happened, they realized the valuable brand isn't Risen, it's Piranha Bytes. That is, fans don't give a shit about the IP, because Piranha Bytes will happily move on and make something that insinuates it's in the same world without being possible for a publisher with rights to the IP to pursue legal action, and nobody cared about the Gothic games made after it lost the touch of its creators, they just moved on to Risen. We need more devs like that who are willing to demonstrate to publishers that people care about the dev because they make fun games, and the publisher is just there to provide funding to make money, and if they don't like it, they can suck it. Gives me some hope, but I'm still really worried. Including for the future of Risen, which I quite enjoy, thank you very much. I was half thinking about getting into Deus Ex, but between the preorder bonuses and the microtransactions, I think I'll stay away for now, thanks. Fuck Squeenix. And this after I was hoping they'd start making games that I'd want to play again. So disappointing.

Having had an epidural in my spine, the most important thing to remember is to take a deep breath and hold very still when they shove that needle in. Any kind of movement can potentially paralyze you. The other annoying thing you may find once your spine has been punctured is that whenever you start getting a cold, or the flu, the injection site will start itching like crazy a few days before you start having symptoms. This eventually fades away, but it can take years.

What's amazing, and depressing, is that after about 10 years of this we still get games filled with microtransactions like this. Which means that people are still buying all this consumable guff. I can't decide if the loot crate style ones are worse either because they have the smell of gambling to them seeing as you have no idea what you'll get. I suppose it's like buying packs of trading cards, but trading cards don't ask you to pay £50 before you can start collecting. Also, you should make Boglin Watch it's own video. Not because I don't like them being in Jimquisition, but because I think it would be funny to find Boglin collectors subscribing to your channel after seeing one Boglin Watch vid and then discovering exactly what lewdness goes on here outside of those vids.

Did he make a video about the overwatch micro transactions? I don't see any problem with those due to a couple of reasons. 1. They only affect cosmetic alterations to characters. No gameplay is fucked with. 2. You can eventually get all the cosmetics if you play enough. 3. Due to cosmetic micro transactions they can continue to release new heroes, maps and modes for free.....I personally like new free content in a game. Especially when it would have been map pack or season pass based otherwise. Plus this style doesn't split the player base so you end up having a longer lasting community and game. I do agree once it actually affects gameplay it has fundamentally screwed with the game and hopefully blizzard never goes down that path.

I'm honestly furious at the fact they put microtransactions in a single player game that we paid money for. I don't care if they're unnoticeable for most players, you should not have to pay for fucking _cheat codes_ . If someone wants to cheat that's their freedom to do so, and the fact that the greedy publishers are trying to scrounge money from them is despicable. Let me give you a recent example; I had a bunch of games to trade in because I couldn't be stuffed selling them on eBay nor are the auction fees and PayPal fees any more appealing to sell online but I digress. I didn't have any idea on what to buy that is out, so I ended up getting talked into putting down money onto games that I was going to buy in the future anyway. Now this is just one of many ways a coincidental pre-order happen. But it goes deeper than that. Mind you, I've worked at EB Games (in Australia) myself and it adds to our KPI to sell pre-orders and the like. 'Would you like a Game Guarantee as well?' being something of a meme in the past. Part of my grievance with your video this time around is that there isn't much discussion on how retailers actually also help push publishers to let them sell their pre-orders in order to get exclusivity on certain store exclusive bonuses. I think your stance on the whole thing is completely fair. We need to start criticizing games as more than just technological curiosities and for what they represent. The gators can gnash their teeth over ideological "purity" all they want, but there's no denying that games are still cultural works in an evolving industry. Ideological stances aside, what a game does (not just as art but as a commercial work) can still affect how subsequent works are made and can kneecap otherwise prospective projects. Good on you, dude: that's a pretty good stance to take. Not every game has to be a Citizen Kane, but if games aren't art then people had no business talking about Bioshock for more than three minutes. I never got to finish HR because I just *had* to do it using only a tranq gun like I tried to in Invisible War, and MGS2....and failed on both attempts before my consoles broke. Denton? From MJ12? That was a great speech so if JC's in the game I'm getting it.

D3WD uhm, fallout 4, skyrim and dishonored had pretty amazing DLC. the knife of dunwall and brigmore witches where amazing. and fallout 4 and skyrim added a lot of content. DLC is not bad when it adds more stuff. yes, you have to pay for it, but i have no problem paying for more of a great game. sure, fallout 4s DLC where not the greatest, but that had to do with that failout 4 wasn't the greatest. i like bethesda DLC because you get more stuff instead of getting sold the rest of the game.

Even on the shitty console versions we can see a huge step forward in polygonal complexity, there is also more prop diversity in the ambient than in any other last-gen games, textiles _(and hair in cut-scenes)_ move realistically for the most part, real-time shadow-drops, better lightning, more PGs _(aka more AI to handle)_ on screen, much bigger areal to handle, high-res animated skyboxes, more destructible objects etc etc etc. The jump between PS3/X360 to PS4/Xone isn't that big on the surface of course, but that's because we get more and more near to reality with every gen, not to mention that the eight generation of consoles are sadly low-budget and therefore not really that impressive on a hardware level. That doesn't mean there aren't huge step forward that make modern games both visually and gameplay wise much more pleasant. Not to mention that there is a huge difference between graphic and art-direction. So which do you mean? DE specifically has a great art-direction with an enormous love for modern architecture, graphic design, general dressing style and interiors. So it's beyond me how someone could call it generic to be franc. Even with less graphical output on a technical standpoint DE would stand out to me, while sometimes I got a hard time differentiating between a CoD with a MoH or a Battlefield. Halo 5 as a counter argument which is another brilliant game on a technical stand-point imho, is still an unpleasant adventure on a design level. This happens thanks to a dreadful art-direction. Especially when it comes to architecture and colour-pallets, often accomplished with a lackluster of contrast or flashed out scenery, while falling in love with gray generic floating machinery and debatable choices in character design. Halo 5 might be interesting on a graphical standpoint, but Deus Ex still utterly destroys it thanks to better design choices. Sorry for the long post, got lost in blathering!^^
