Refusing to wear the rainbow flag should have nothing to do with religious beliefs. The rainbow flag is effectively a political symbol, it is used in a political fashion. You do not have the right to force your political symbols on others, the same as you have no right to force your religious symbols on others.

Agree to disagree. That is reconciliation. Tolerance is a two way street that is personal between two people. It isn’t hashtags, putting people into categories and corporate virtue signalling. Shaming people is not inclusive or tolerant in any way.

I Roberts statements are very confusing because here he's saying he respects the players decision but on the street interview, he said he didn't respect the players decision. A bit cringe.
@WHU632 жыл бұрын
Just because Roberts was a good player doesn't make his views more important than anyone else. It seems like the media and Manly are using him as a cheerleader for the Rainbow. If people have issues, Roberts and nobody else will sway them. We need to get back to sport being for recreation and enjoyment. We do that by dropping all the politics and virtue signalling. Why would you wear a shirt to promote someone's sexual preference anyway? That what dictatorships do, force and coerce.
@brendenwalters84752 жыл бұрын
Des said that Roberts was a great man - he didn't say why, I don't think. Going on that performance, Des is a great man. He showed his class and values. I was also very impressed with DCE. He has a future in the NRL - a very smart boy.

where are the gutless board and chairman who made this decision. Hiding and making others (coach and captain) apologise for their stuff up. This is nothing other than political virtual signaling. As it is illegal to discriminate against someone for their political beliefs. These players should sue the Manly Chairman, board and club for doing so. A couple of $million dollars each should send the correct message to all companies including sports clubs that they can not discriminate because of political views in the workplace. In this case Manly should stick to playing rugby league, and leave the political posturing distant from the playing field.
