one thing i have definitely noticed about these games is that the creator is incorporating actual aspects of the player characters as mechanics quite a bit actually. In this game, playing as Angela the Angler Fish it’s hard to notice but you have a source of blue light constantly around you as you walk In the game about the Midnight maids, since you were a cockroach person you could carry 4 things at a time thanks to your extra set of hands and the one about Egyptian Gods and such, when playing as the actual goddess you didn’t need to use the Ankh mechanic since well, your unique natural sight is more then capable of seeing what the Ankh can see. it’s a very small thing but i absolutely love it when game devs go out of their way to look at a character design and ask “what special things about who or what they are can we adapt into gameplay” even in just small ways like this

zed technician truly does his own thing every single time and i think he might lowkey be one of my favourite independent creators at this point- his stuff is just so *fresh*. the content never has any shades of sexualization despite the exaggerated nature of the character models, the characters are almost always down-to-earth, nuanced working class people despite being some utterly buckwild animals or mythic creatures, and he never succumbs to the urge to be pointlessly grimdark- there's always a truly happy ending available. it's just nice, y'know? like zed's out here going "yes this possum woman is thick as hell but she's also got debt from taking care of her late mother's medical debts and the community has a duty to help her defend her livelihood from a transdimensional horror" and i just think that's neat.

The thing I love most about Zed’s games and universe is that anything has the capacity to be good, even things that outwardly look monstrous. The evil parasite fish aside, the monster from the very first Zed game is now effectively a lap dog, the eerie shadow people from the diner game are just regular honest people, and that’s not even mentioning the objectively scary looking characters we get sometimes like Angela and the wolf man from the hospital game. Zed’s games have such a fully realized personality behind them and it makes me so happy seeing new releases from them

I think my favorite thing about these games is that the real horror doesn't come entirely from the atmosphere but more if you botch the job you need to do. Like if you mess up the game makes SURE you know it. It's like diffusing a bomb with the instructions on how to disarm it beside it. Easy but *don't-screw-up.*

*_Potions_*_ (said in MBH's voice)_ This was just wonderful. The array of people in this world is fascinating. Now a zaftig pretty witch and an even more zaftig angler fish, working together. And a sleeping whale fish thing that must be kept asleep with chains. The best thing about every Zed Technician game is the uplifting messages about the common working person, doing the right thing, having a sense of morals and of helping their fellow human and/or animal. Everyone bonds with each other, everyone is fairly treated and fairly paid. Thank you for showing us the special epilogue from the hard difficulty too! That is the one other thing that is nice about all of these games - it's not about the difficulty, but just about happy game play and enjoying the personalities and stories of the characters. :)

I’ll be honest, at first I was skeptical of Zed’s stuff because of the obvious reason; my knee jerk reaction was “oh boy here we go again caricaturing women’s bodies”. But I can tell thought and effort were put into the characters, the story, the environment, and the gameplay. The women characters are actually very brave and smart, and I appreciate that there’s actually some depth to their personalities. It sort of grew on me. No pun intended lol. Everyone in Swamp Witch Simulator is so professional and polite to each other. It's cute. Not much attitude in these particular characters, where some previous Zed Technician heroines have had a little snark or a world-weary edge. But hey, our witch girl got Heartwarming Character Development in the tough mode ending! Interesting design on Angela. I'm tempted to pronounce it Anggelah.

Ah, Zed's games are always so good. They just have so much personality, variety and just... humanity, weirdly? Idk, Zed's games are just true jewels of horror indie games and I will be forever grateful to Manly for playing them and to Zed for making them lol

I love how Zed will use any animal for their characters. We got the usual animals like rabbits or foxes but also a lot of underused species like octposes and axolotls. Would love to have a thicc mommy guinea pig protag someday

I LOVE Zed Technician’s games! They’re enjoyable little puzzles that have such charming horror elements to them. Zed’s ability to tell a fun story using character POVs as different game mechanics is incredible. Yes, it’s no Resident Evil, but I think that’s what makes The Fish’s Tale so enjoyable. Its like a KZbin skit compared to a feature-length film; substantial and satisfying, but with less of a long-term commitment.

"This is the darkest ending for a Zed Tech game yet!" Second darkest, the last game with Monica as a playable character had invincible Egyptian gods completely wiping out humanity out of a combination of spite and boredom. At least this time it's hinted that humanity can fight back against this monster so at worst, we go down kicking and screaming. Otherwise not bad, kind of the closest we've gotten to an open world game in Zed Tech's zany little world. Which... yeah would be hard to code but still, I'd just want to see what sort of delightfully crazy world his head exists in.
