A lot of students back in the day had awful manners. Like treating women and POC like lesser humans for example. Old days were not the good ole days. Kids today have way more manners, AND they’ve learned to not let ass hole adults walk all over them and violate their boundaries. Respect goes both ways.

Hunh---when I was in grade school, it was one of the biggest privileges of all time to clean the boards and the erasers! The most coveted job, though, was helping the farm ladies in the school kitchen for a week at a time. I got to do that twice in my sixth and seventh grades, and I loved doing all those jobs! But, then, I was just "some girl," not a rude boy.

Chalkie, I used to love to clean the blackboards in school. I could have used you during my middle school years when I got sick. I kept getting strep throat so my mother takes me to the doctor; those tonsils of mine had ought to come out. I had them out September 1968

I didn't notice a southern accent. But I doubt they would deliberately cast a kid with a southern accent, anyway. They probably just gave him the part because he was good at acting like a brat.
