No Pacquiao said his shoulder was hurting since 2009 not that it was injured. Athletes put wear and tear on their body over time because of the punishment they put it through. For example Lebron ha suffered lower back pain for years. So basically what Pacquiao probably had was a slight tendon tear, and then when he ramped up his training he injured himself. Mayweather himself said he also had some physical issues before the fight himself. Most Athletes are always one bad movement away from injury, because their bodies are worn out on a daily basis.
