He was once asked on a TV interview why he was forced to go out of school at a very young age. His reply was "My family could not even buy me a pencil and paper. How much more sending me to school and pay all those expenses." - Literally his family was really dirt poor back then.

There was an earlier documentary on manny when he first gained fame and they interviewed his school teachers, they said he was the best student in class and had photographic memory and were heartbroken when he had to leave school because they saw so much potential in him and he would go on to do big things, turns out they were right.

Pacquiao's story is somewhat similar to my life when I was a young boy. I also belong to a very poor family striving to live everyday. I go to school barefooted during my elementary grade. Not enough food to eat. But miracle happened when I turned 22, my whole family was able to come to the United States. Our life suddenly changed. Very thankful to our Lord.
