I compare the performance of various presets on the Steam Deck OLED for Manor Lords.
On Low you get a about 40-60 FPS, on Medium 25-40 FPS, on High 23-35 FPS and on Ultra 10-15 FPS (FSR always on Quality).
For me, these are the optimal settings:
Battery Saving: Max. 30 FPS + Low Preset + FSR Quality
OR
Optimal Settings:
- Anti-aliasing: FSR Quality
- Sharpening: Off
- Shader quality: Low
- Shadow quality: Medium
- Postprocess quality: Ultra
- Bounced light approximation: Ultra
- Volumetric clouds: On
- Terrain texture resolution: High
- View distance: High
- Grass density: High
- Grass distance: Medium
- Foliage quality: Medium
And the end of the video there is also a small part where you can see how the controls are on the Steam Deck. I think they are very comfortable.
What do you think? Do you want to play Manor Lords on the Steam Deck? And with what graphical settings?
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks to Hooded Horse for providing beta access to me.

Your making good videos in comparison to others, where guys show only one preset of settings and the rest you should assume by yourself. But you showed all possible variants, subscribed!

Thank you very much :-) I really appreciate the positive feedback. I always try to show all the presets because people like different things. Some are ok with lower graphics settings if it gets them 60 FPS, others want to play on ultra even at 15 FPS. Others want something in between.

This music is giving me Final Fantasy 9 vibes! Just bought the game today so can't wait to get into it on steam deck with a mouse. Since I bought the steam deck I cant actually remember the last time I played on the PS5 other than remote play with Chiaki 😍 steam deck is literally boss

Yeah I feel you about the PS5. Steam Deck stole a lot of playing time from the PS5. Regarding the music: I've heard that Manor Lords uses a lot of me real medieval music (that is modern versions of these old tracks). I was often reminded of CIV 6 music. Maybe FF9 also used in parts samples from these old medieval songs.

@@steamdeckstreaming yeah you could well be right about Final Fantasy. I've been looking forward to this Manor Lords game ever since I saw it appear in the steam library months ago. Maybe it's just me but I feel the steam deck isn't maybe a suited to playing triple A games as well as it is to playing games like this. It's definitely more than capable of it but I find myself deleting bigger games like that in favour of smaller more casual simulations and builder games. I can sit for hours playing simulation games like F1 Mgr, FM24, CIV, Railway Empire 2 etc but then the bigger games like Forza and The Last of Us I Tend not to play for that long for some reason. It's probably got a lot to do with the fact you can pop it into standby mode or turn it off and resume your game at the click of a button. Definitely makes simulation games more appealing purely based on the hundreds of hours that you can put into a sim. Skyrims a bit of an anomaly because I have that and play that almost daily. Sorry to hijack your video bud. Really enjoyed the video and it was very informative thank you

@@SeivadK7 No problem, I like these kind of comments :) And glad you enjoyed the video. I play all kinds of games on the deck, from simulation games to triple A games. But with AAA games I mostly just stream them to my steam deck from my gaming pc, mostly because I can play longer like this (because streaming doesn't take a lot of battery life).

@@steamdeckstreaming yeah I know what you mean. The steam deck isn't the greatest in terms of battery life I stream off my PS5 but I'll probably end up ditching that in favour of a gaming computer towards the end of this year. I've had a gaming PC before and I always fall into the same trap of there's always better parts Doesn't matter how good your console or rig is there's always an upgrade but it always costs a crazy amount of money. PC gaming is definitely the future though and I can see consoles dipping off

@@SeivadK7 I think so too. I just have my PS5 for the exclusives, but there are less and less ps exclusive games. Maybe after GTA 6 I'll sell my PS5.

Just a bluetooth mouse enoguh to control or need keyboard as well ? I would play this from the couch connected the steam deck to tv , that why i ask ! I dont want to buy a keyboard also
@steamdeckstreaming
@steamdeckstreaming 20 күн бұрын
Yes I think so. You can move the camera by going to the edge of the screen with your mouse cursor. The only problem would be to press escape to save or leave the game. Maybe you can set up one button on your mouse to act as the escape key.

Hey, great video! Just a few questions. How do you rotate buildings on the deck? Can the right toggle be used to move cursor or can you only use trackpad? Finally, how use friendly are the controls? TIA
@steamdeckstreaming
@steamdeckstreaming 13 күн бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching. So regarding your questions: With my controller settings, you just hold down R2 and rotate the buildings with the right trackpad. Yes, you can also use the right analog stick to move the cursor, but I recommend the track pad. I think the controls are very user friendly. I adjusted some control settings for better playability. You can find my custom layout under the the name "Manor Lords Controller Adjusted".

Ach verdammt, vermutlich werd ichs mir auch einfach kaufen... allerdings fürs Lenovo Legion Go... größeres Display.

@steamdeckstreaming 14 күн бұрын
Gude.
