I did my Veer-my team for Dreadball a very similar colour of armour years back. It really does look good in contrast with the fur. Of course you make the painting look way easier!

I give it a lot of stick, but I actually really like Stegadon Scale Green. With the right highlight colour you can quite significantly change its overall appearance.

Much obliged! They're very cool figures, really, but without there being scores of painted examples and guides out there I did struggle at first to make a move on just how I wanted him to look. Can't beat that blue once it's shaded!

You're absolutely right in the, "Why would you make things harder for yourself?" aspect of the hobby. Not to accuse painters that paint to a higher standard-strictly of competition-but sometimes we get so wrapped up with having everything be extremely highlighted that we forget what the end goal is supposed to be as well. For I'm very doubtful that master center pieces are played with if at all, for they are serving a different purpose than being pieces of a game instead. Thus that is why I really love your approach to the hobby.

I've been lucky enough to play against some really gorgeously painted armies before, and if I had the time I really would go all-out and lavish each miniature with attention as you see some painters do... but man oh man, who's got the time for that, really?! 😅

Great tutorial, Mantic Games make great miniatures and are a lot cheaper than GW, deadzone is actually a really fun game too

This is an awesome paint scheme! I got some Steel Warriors from Mantic a couple days ago and have been painting them different colors. I did see your video on the steel warrior, by the way 😁 But I think a similar paint scheme like this one would work for them.

Just a bright splash of colour somewhere will really set off a dark miniature, if there's a sensible place for it to go. Can't beat glowing goggles for that one!

Nice! Got a couple boxes of Deadzone Ratkins for cheap, that have been slumping in my pile of shame since then. Between OPR having a list for them and this tutorial, it might be just time to give them a shot.

@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Smaller scale battles are the magic trick that did it for me. Brought me back to the feel of the softcover Rogue Trader I played as a 14 yo in 1989. Plus, they have actual rebel lists! Rebels! And weird stuff! Yes, multiple kicks in the butt. ;-)

@SonicSledgehammerStudio
@SonicSledgehammerStudio 3 жыл бұрын
I have to admit that the main rules for Kings of War leave me a little baffled in some respects - the way that units Cha-Cha Slide into position after wheeling to charge, for example - but the miniatures themselves are pretty bloody good, and the smaller games they do feel much more satisfying.
