@@sodiboo I wanted to avoid the unnecessarily bleak tone of just saying "suicide". It can carry a lot of feels for people having a rough time, which I have personally felt. That's just a personal approach I often employ without thinking, just to lighten the topic and make it slightly easier to engage with... Also, to be honest, I found it kinda funny to imagine someone actually going through those steps and saying "sui-side" aloud to themselves

Poor Arthur. I know this is an allegory to children who are born disabled, and the mother is tempted to kill the child and even the child can be tempted to kill himself. It's sad to know that people die for being disabled because others didn't want to have a disabled person to take care of

Nah, people just don't understand why suicide is illegal. You won't go to jail for committing or trying to commit suicide, obviously, at least in the West you won't. It's for the police who are called by your worried neighbours or whoever. If they suspect you might be planning something illegal, like committing suicide, they now have reason and means to bust down your door and physically stop you from committing suicide.

Hm, a good story about morality and I say the right to suicide. The beginning had hints of abortion rights but I say if you've made the decision to go ahead and give birth, it's no longer an abortion if you then kill your kid, lol. As for the right to suicide, we all have that anyways to a certain degree, but in terms of going about it with a legal side, I've heard I think California has it but it's reserved for terminal illnesses and adults. Do I think someone should have the right to kill themselves? Again, if someone wants to do so, they're going to, but I'd hope not. Same with abortion. I'm pro-choice but ultimately, I'd like it if no woman ever chose to take that route but each person's situation is different.
