I'm a factory trained motorcycle mechanic specializing in Honda Yamaha Suzuki and Kawasaki. Also the person who originally bought all the parts for this bike purchased the manual which had the bearing specs, torque values and other handy stuff. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Makes life great having a nice motorcycle stand. Am too old sitting on milk crate,good job. The crankshaft bearings are not colour coded on the side. Now that one thing got learn putting on tires since am getting BST carbon rims I don't want some shop putting chips on the side.
Love the build! I'm trying to revive an 81 Honda 900c and it's taking some time.

+Patrick Banahan CB900 is a good bike. Is it the super sport twincam? I love old Honda engineering and manufacturing from the 70's-80's such high quality parts that just last and last. good luck on your project thanks for the comment.

I thought case haves were not interchangeable as they are bolted together and crank webs are line bored at the factory.
@MantisGarageB6 жыл бұрын
that's true for things like cam journals where there is no sizeable contact surface but when you have interchangeable plain bearings you can get away with it as long as you plastiguage and you dont have any tight clearance

Hey, did you dry build the bottom end or did you use any protective lube for initial start up? The vid was so fast I couldn't catch it. Enjoyable watch.
@MantisGarageB8 жыл бұрын
I always use molybdenum assembly lube when I am doing the final assembly on plain bearings. I use engine oil on the pistons and rings and a light film on the bore of each cyl. also a good idea to pre fill the oil filter and make sure you build oil psi by cranking engine before you fire it up. cheers

I stop watching this when you decide to reuse the old crank shaft bearings!!! That is just not right!! The cost of new bearings is far far less then the risk of engine falling apart because you used old bearings. There is only one way to do this kind of project once you decided to do it "the right way" and the right way is to replace all of the bearings! There in no chance that two same crank shafts wear off same on two different engines and smallest difference in force and load distribution can cause that old bearing to fall apart (we are talking here about micro millimeters that you can't see with your eyes)
@brendaneagan69597 жыл бұрын
quite true but the bearings should not touch the crank unless it looses oil pressure and that will cause more problems then just the crank bearings. also i have run this to redline on one wheel and put thousands of miles on it so for a 500 dollar investment i think it will be ok
@mirzetsarajlic42357 жыл бұрын
I can understand your point of view and your way of thinking specially when you had an good experience with this kind of build. I also appreciate your understanding for my comment. This engine can run for years and it can also fall apart in weeks there is no way to say for sure. I just think that if a video is made it should be done by showing proper way to do things and then people can deviate in accordance to there skill and experience.
