Best point i've heard made on daily driving a manual. The skill needs to be kept current. Driving a manual once a week for a couple hours on backroads vs every day in real world traffic....no comparison in terms of driving skill and finesse required. People have it backwards...should be manuals for daily driving; DCTs and autos for absolute acceleration and fast shifts on the track. Daily drive your manual cars!

One exception I'd make is if you're commuting in heavy stop and go traffic that's much slower than your car's idle speed. I've driven manual only while commuting in heavy traffic for 15 years. I didn't think it was so bad until I got a vehicle that doesn't need to do that. It is SO much better in stop and go traffic. Going back to manual in those conditions felt absolutely terrible, particularly if you just got an intense run done and your feet are sore. Using those sore /exhausted muscles having to feather the gas and clutch is definitely not fun, and I've had muscles spaz out from that. The technique feels as natural as ever. I never have problems switching. But I've quickly realized just how needlessly inconvenient it is to go at a snail's pace for an hour.

Pressing the traction control button once gives you MDM, twice or long press is fully off. You can also make your own mode with MDM turned on for the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel. You nailed it with the compromise of the M2, but how that’s part of the charm. It’s one of the best in its class when it comes to being sporty and livable every day.

I tested both manual and DCT M2C. After driving manual in ALL my 911's over the last 30 years, I decided the DCT was the way to go for my M2 Comp purchase. Love it. Absolutely lightning fast shifts and the DCT will not be around much longer so it was a no brainer for me. I club raced 911's and am a excellent manual driver but I couldnt come close to the speed of the DCT.

I've had this car for a year now, and daily drive it. Just hit 10k miles last month. Took it to the track (Carolina Motorsports Park) for the first time last week completely stock, minus a DOT4 brake fluid flush a few days prior. This car is a riot! You mention the brakes a lot in this review, and for good reason...they are incredible, and held up all day through five 20-minute sessions. Power delivery is excellent. You do feel the weight of the car, but it's such a great all-around package that it doesn't matter. And at the end of the day, I had a comfortable 2.5 hour drive back home. The M2C isn't necessarily perfect at anything, but it is great at a lot of things-- and that's what makes it a fantastic car.

Loving your videos man. One thing I would recommend you do when you do these car reviews is something like a general scoring or something similar to Doug Demuro’s DougScore so the viewer can get an objective number/rating. We watch for your personality so it would really increase my attention while watching to wonder what your scoring will be at the end. Keep up the great work!
@TedwardDrives3 жыл бұрын
Scoring is too subjective and relative. Cars can stand on their own and provide an experience without having to stack up against another vehicle. If I drove 3 Mclaren’s in a week followed by a sonata it doesn’t seem fair to score the Hyundai 😂. If I’ve done my job right you can assign your own value and score to the driving experience

@@TedwardDrives Right, but that’s the point. You’re reviewing cars with your personality. As far as I know you aren’t a professional car reviewer, we watch for your personality and input.
