It's so beautiful how passionate, clear and intricate all of these images and memories are coming from Isaacson. So damn nice. Damn.

Benjamin Franklin was truly a genius, recognized as such at home and abroad, in his own time and still today. He dabbled in many things, but also mastered them-philosophy, electricity, diplomacy-and shaped his world and ours. (A historian noted, even Geniuses had down time, but my Franklin, he was always working on something new! )

Walter Isaacson is phenomenal biographer and Charlie Rose is a phenomenal interviewer and it's such pleasure to watch them both talk about the most important founding father of America - the one and only Benjamin Franklin.

Agree about Issacson but Rose tended to interrupt people and not always let them finish their response , as he demonstrated in this interview on several occasions. The book was excellent!

Walter isn’t the best biographer, his style is very shallow and journalistic, imho.

Charlie has conducted this interview session by arranging the sets of questions exclusively, moreover, Walter Isaacson responded to all of them very politely and candidly ✌💎🥇

My friend (Jack Cassidy) was from Philadelphia, and told me that Franklin had not put any grease on his wheelbarrow and so it squeaked more and drew attention and thus raised attention and sold more newspapers.

Great talk. There is only one thing that I would correct, and that is simply the opinion that slavery is a mark on the character of our founders. In my opinion, It is no more fair to say our founding fathers were morally suspect because of their stance on slavery than it would be for someone 200 years from now to say that every person who supported or was ambivalent toward abortion today has a mark on their moral character. We are all products of our time and place. It is not our right to judge someone in the past for doing what was commonly accepted not only here in the US but across the entire world.

Mr. Isaacson, Have a read The Apology recently? “… I am here, you cannot avoid executing me, for if I should be acquitted, your sons would practise the teachings of Socrates and all be thoroughly corrupted; if you said to me in this regard: “Socrates, we do not believe Anytus now; we acquit you, but only on condition that you spend no more time on this investigation and do not practise philosophy, and if you are caught doing so you will die.” I find this statement true. Спасибо. Sincerely, R.W.N II

Charlie Rose’s interruptions are particularly intrusive in his interview of Walter I. He more than finishes sentences! His ego and compulsive need to display his knowledge gets in the way of drawing out his interviewee! He seems not to understand his role,
