Wow you have the best tutorials! I was so confused on why my illustrations looked flat and wacky but with the way you composite colors and highlights with the Background everything looks next level now! that 3D stuff looks super helpful too!

Happy to hear this! Yeah I struggled with my illustrations looking a bit flat until I started to do studies from real life (like the ones at the very beginning when i'm talking about Lighting properties), that helped a ton. Something just clicks after doing two or three of them and it stays in your bloodstream. Highly recommended! Thank you for watching!

In addition to this being so accurate and step-by-step process , you also introduced shadows like no one else, like those 3 types of shadows you told us about, I have never looked at shadows in this way before , now I can analyze shadows and maybe improve a bit (I'm new to shading in general) Thanks very much for this tutorial, god bless you

Thank you for your words Yazan! I really appreciate it, and totally! This way of looking at shadows really helped me breakdown how to use them to complement light and to give volume to the character. Cheers!

i dont even use clip studio, this is just one of the BEST arts ive ever seen! she has an insanely clean line drawing with stylish curves but great sense of solid 3d spacial awareness. perfectly vibrant colours and light intensity to fit the character in a dark environment. not to say your character isnt beautiful, but as someone new to this channel, this video thumbnail REALLY caught my eye, in a way that your older thumbnail pictures probably wouldn't have. big big improvements.

Hawshi Magii! You have no idea how much this comment means to me hehe. I do put a lot of effort into my titles and thumbnails (always plan them before even starting to film the videos) since its the deciding factor on people even watching the video to begin with. That being said this thumbnail in particular was a struggle to me, I had 4 completely different versions and had the help of a lot of people in order to decide which one to use. In the end I went with this one, never knowing if I made the right choice. Your message just gave me a lot of peace of mind and made me really happy, thank you. And thanks for watching the video! Cheers!

Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻 😊 If possible, I would appreciate if you elaborate on these 2 topics in future videos: *1 -* How to integrate the character & background better, so that they look like they share the same environment 5:58 *2 -* How to paint a background with the help of 3D models 12:42 I’m interested in any tips to help me make sure that my characters will always look like they’re actually physically present in the backgrounds where they’re supposed to be. Also, I’d love to learn more about techniques to use for painting backgrounds. Thank you, and I look forward to watching any videos you post in the future ☺️💖

Ohhhh I really need to learn how to use 3d objects in clip studio. I'm a hobby artist and personally it doesn't give me anything to draw busy background scenes so I never learned it but 3d objects sound like a great idea to at least make things more interesting when my characters are in a specific setting. I love that so many people make tutorials and documentation videos for clip studio. Thank you thank you

Thank YOU for watching it. I totally feel you, I don't know why but when I was in college everyone used to brag about how "they painted stuff without any ref" (of course it looked like doo doo). But then as I got into the industry I realized that every single professional, without exception, uses reference. And, as I've done it myself I realized it is single-handedly the key factor for a piece's success! I think what's important is using several references and not only one, so there's no plagiarizing. It's also counter productive to use few, cause the more references you use, the more original and rich your mixture will be, so it turns into something fantastic! And on the other side of the coin, it is also important not to spend too much time on this, so we don't fall on procrastination (I'm definitely guilty of this haha). Wish you the best of luck!

@@ManuMercurial Hahaha! 😂😂😂Just to be clear, I haven't sat down to follow through this tutorial just yet, but the next time I have to make a digital illustration to look this good, I'm coming back to you for a lesson (at x0.25 speed) The (x0.25speed) thing was a joke btw... 😂😂😂 and I brought it up because of how fast you were in your "Animate in CSP like a pro" video. I don't normally change the speed of KZbin videos and I understand your need to appease the KZbin Algorithm. It's all good! I'm just SUPER glad that you're making pro tutorials for free! Thanks again Manu Mercurial!!!! 😍😍😍

WOW this was incredible quality and so easy to follow along to and take notes from! I've really been struggling past the sketch and lineart stages and haven't been able to elevate my lighting and color blending but... I am feeling quite inspired now! Can't wait to try some of this out, thank you for the concise explanations and for taking the time to make this. Also, you're super cute! What a bonus!

Happy to help! And absolutely, it might not be in a single video but in every video I'll try focusing on an area of the program and explaining the tools we have at our disposal! And I totally feel you, I've been using CSP for 6 years but I'm still learning things every day, it is actually quite robust! Thank YOU for watching!

Totally, it carries a ton of weight in storytelling. What I wanted to convey is some people worry too much when painting about how a color works with the rest, but if you worry more about your values then any color you can imagine has the ability to work just fine! Thanks for watching!

I do hope you go a little more into detail next time with shadows and lights with other examples, cuz I feel like it went through it all too fast? You explenation of the shadows were no problem, i just wish you used more examples (during daytime, sunset etc)! That or im just slow lol but you made me realize stuff that I need to work on regardless, so im def subscribing to see what other tutorials you make in the future! Thank you for the video

Hi Slifer! Working on a video on cel-shading right now (which is this but condensed/simplified), I'll make sure to talk more about other lighting examples, thank you for your suggestion! And naah you're good!! I did go fast on this video cause I'm testing how the length of the video impacts the audience retention (hint: I still have no idea cause every video is its own world hehe rip). So I did make the edit quite fast. Hopefully I get to expand on this on the next videos. Thank you for watching!!
