I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. I also heard that Manute Bol was very generous. Unfortunately, that led to his demise, as his OWN country contributed to his coming down with the illness. So unfortunate.

@@toneloc7910 I watched a lot of Bol on PHL 17 when he was on the Sixers. So in my amateur opinion he was a no-skill player who could not walk straight. He had a tremendous size, no jumping ability and he indeed altered the airspace under the basket. What exactly did he give the Sixers outside of those horrendous stats? Nothing. They won nothing and could not go past the second round of the playoffs. He was from the tribe called Dinka I believe and did a lot of charity work for his people so he is a nice human being. Bol's eye-hand coordination was incredible, and his blocks were like quick jabs. They played a while in Philly together. There's a classic skit where Barkley is going to a buffet table and he pulls one of the silver covers and it's Bols head. As a young man, I once had the funny opportunity to play with Manute Bol at a rec center in Maryland. It was not a real game and an absolutely ridiculous case of average Joes versus a Professional basketball player. He blocked everything (including three pointers) and kept saying "my house." Then, the 7'7" Bol would surprisingly shoot and make three's on offense. I recall the Washington Bullets having him (the tallest player) and Muggsy Bogues (the shortest player) in the NBA.

His son needs to watch this video and remember his dad was a block specialist and he got the chance to shoot his 3s because he was on the court to defend. Bol bol start defending better, get more clock, and then start doing all that spectacular shit he wanna do.

Manute was recruited by the University of Bridgeport basketball coach, Bruce Webster. That was my alma mater, the Purple Knights!

This is the most sane list of insane plays I've ever seen. Close-range jumper. Starting the game 2 for 2. Committing an offensive foul. Whistled for defensive fouls. Getting tip-ins.

I know everybody’s first time getting blocked by him had to sting. It doesn’t look like he has position or closeness, but his reach and precision was a new ballgame.
