Thanks Amit! There will always be people that don't agree with you ...applies to all aspects of life. Based on the messages/feedback that I receive, most people seem to be benefiting, so I just ignore the dislikes 😃 Again, thank you for the comment, it's people such as yourself that motivate me to put out more content!

A tutorial on lehriya would be fantastic. I am not sure if its a misconception or a fact that lehriya and gidha are same. However, there is one very cool beat is missing and it would be awesome to have that one also in ones repertoire. Thanks. Needless to say that your tutorials are by far the best.

Hey Danyal, thank you for the comment! I'm not sure whether it's a misconception or a fact myself... I've heard that they're two different beats (from an highly-knowledgeable dholi in England), but then I've heard they're the same from nearly all dholis in North America. It may vary geographically, because there's no real rule book, but as the drum gains more popularity and things start to become more universal, I'm sure there will be a conclusion in the future

Hi Manvir, Thanks for all of the great content, you're videos are helping me develop as a dholi a lot. I have had my dhol for a few years now and am noticing a lot of stress on the tilli side of my dhol. I live in Wisconsin, and was wondering which heads you trust for your dhol (material, brand ,etc.) And where you like to get them. Is the one you're playing on in this video a remo fyberskin? Do you have any distinctions for when you play different heads. Any advice you can provide whenever you're able would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, man! Take care!

Hey, thanks for the comment! Glad the videos are helping out. In terms of treble skins, I prefer synthetic ones that come from India because they have a more traditional sound. I've never really cared about the brand because from what I've seen via videos, most come from the same small manufacturers in India and they just label/stamp logo's on them accordingly to where they're going to go. The one that I'm using in this video is the Remo Fiberskyn but to be honest, I didn't like it because the skin is very thick and it produces a warm sound. I like thinner skins that have more of a ring and sound more open. I've never been to Wisconsin, but I'm sure if you Google drum shops in your area, they should carry snare heads that you can use as trebles for your dhol. One of my favourite snare heads that I used was the Remo Ebony Ambassador. You can try that or speak to one of the specialists at your local drum shop to find out the difference in sounds produced by each head and try them out until you find one that suits your needs

@@ManvirHothi Piggy back riding on this comment. What sort of dugga head (bass) do you use? Your bass sounds so dense. My dhol has bolts on both sides and I face difficulty tuning the bass side to perfection because I'm not able to replicate the thump sound.. perhaps my dhol has is thicker skin?
