I always say to these people "do you have your stock bike, tuned for every track or canyon road you visit in north america? then why does you flashed bike need this?" Anyway, I have 3 of Nate's mail in flashes up here in Canada, and I have worked on another dozen bikes who have his tunes, all makes and models and exhausts. All of them are AMAZING! and all of them Dyno absolutely perfect up here.

And this is why I will always use ya'll for ECU flashes! Best in the biz hands down and never had any issues. It's extremely hard to convince others though because they always think "dyno tuning" is the only way to go and then I hear them complain about snatchy throttles, dead zones, etc from a bad dyno tuner.

I have a 2wdw flash on my 2024 yamaha r7. It has a full exhaust, and a filter. The difference in the bike after the tune is unbelievable! Noticeable increase in power all the way through. And it runs soooooo smooth. I happened to of bought the tune from 2wdw before I knew any of this! Sometimes you win. Great info. thx.

I've had two bikes done by 2wheel, a 21 mt10 with cat delete and a 2013 concours 1400 with full black widow exhaust installed.. I live close enough to their shop in Kirkland to have it flashed while I wait, and holy shit..!!?.. the ride home was so very different from the ride there.!. The Concours especially came alive, with the vvt kicking in about 6000 rpm it's a whole new machine.. Thank you 2wheel, you guys know your shit.

You guys are my go to, for sure. I prefer to let you tune on the dyno, as I noticed a very significant improvement in rideability over the mail-in ecu flash you folks had done. I explained what I was looking for from the dyno tune, trim up and you gave me exactly what I wanted. Peak power, didn't notice anything different but that's not unexpected given it's an around 200 hp bike.

Amen! I hate seeing posts on facebook from various tuning shops bragging about their tunes by showing a before and after and you can see the stock/before file is "RunFile_0", and then the final tune is something like "RunFile_15"...pretty safe to say they did one single run on a cold bike and dyno and they're using that as comparison. Then their tune looks much better relative to it, but in reality if you ran it a few more times the difference would be significantly less. When I take a bike to the dyno and I fire it up for the first time, I usually do about 7-10 runs until I get a stable reading. The first 5-6 times the curve keeps going up a bit each time.

Nice info shared. For anyone reading this comment, if you have a custom exhaust (custom made or heavily altered) then you will need a dyno tune

Just about every bike tuners see has a custom exhaust. Mail in tuners will generally provide tunes specific to either the exhaust you have installed, or at least one of similar length and performance. While people love to think their bike is special and individual, there is very little to no actual difference in fueling required from one shorty to another. As he said at the intro to this bike, the bike has a full Akro system, which is "pretty standard stuff we've seen 100x before."

@@devinwilliams456 Considerably better mid range power and torque gains compared to any other tune I've tried. Overall the bike just runs smoother, from idle to the redline. So far it's been very reliable as well. Don't get me wrong, the top end his incredible but that mid range improvement turned this thing into a beast.

Per chance, have you had any Super Tenere 1200's sent in to smooth out the power delivery / tq in both Touring and Sport? I haven't used sport mode since I bought it in May. Looking forward to your response. EDIT, just found your site and saw that you have an option for my bike. Great video!

So... you guys flashed my Tenere 700. A couple of times. I couldn't really tell any difference. But you guys said it might take a few ride cycles for things to settle out. I don't ride it much, but the other day I rode from Olympia out to Hoodsport. Where I proceeded to stop for lunch. I got a really greasy cheeseburger and fries for like 17 bucks. Fuck me. Funny thing was, when I got back on the bike and headed up to Lake Cushman, I noticed that the bike was running noticeably smoother. Throttle transitions were more linear and controlled. No more snatch off idle. I was definitely digging the improvement... A bit later, as I was contemplating all this while sitting in one of the many portable toilets on the shore of Lake Cushman, a thought occurred to me: "Damn, that cheeseburger sure did grease my pipes. I wonder it did something for the bike too..."

If you want a proper good laugh check out Hilltop Motorcycles in the UK. A magic 'invisible' tune that they hide in some unused part of the ECU so no one but themselves can ever detect it or access it, even the bike / ECU manufacturer can't find it and your insurers will never know .. the tune will also shut itself down when the bike is put on any dyno other than the one used by this tuner, so you can't independently check the quality of the tune or if it even exists ... it'll also be the best tune you can ever get for your bike, more power and performance than anyone else could hope to wring out of it ... oh and it's not a tune, it's actually custom 'engine management' software that doesn't touch or affect the OEM software on the ECU. Just send them your ECU in the post, pay £350 and they'll send it back loaded with sparkles and fairy dust that will make your bike super awesome. If all of that sounds too good to be true ... well, you know the score .................. 😉

just got my 23 s1000rr custom flashed/tuned from a tuner that uses woolich software. Any idea why the bike falls on its face at high RPM? Theres about a 12 HP decrease around 13k.

I have your mail in flash on my zx10 and had my local dyno confirm my AFR. Bike up to operating temp it was running slightly rich even more so closer to redline. I’m assuming that’s good to factor in ram air at high speeds. Overall, I’m happy with the tune.

Give me back a bike that makes 2hp less hp but runs cool, has good throttle response, doesn't have ridiculous engine braking, doesn't pop and bang on over run, runs nice through all of the throttle range, max area under the curve, has had arbitrary restrictions removed like speed limit, low rev limit, timing retard (after discussion) etc and I will be happy. The focus is always on peak hp because that is the easiest to sell. Genuine question, why do you use STD correction and not SAE?

An interesting and genuinely though provoking comment lost amongst the fan service. As a DIY tuner I come to these videos to see what snake oil is being sold today but for this video I agree with the premise in that it's able to call out how a dyno run can be manipulated to fake gains. I considered your STD vs SAE question and feel that as long as it's like for like comparison's it shouldn't be an issue. As a diy tuner I get to pick and choose exactly what parts of my maps and settings I want to change and can do it with much thought and consideration to my needs. I don't know your budget or circumstances but buying the woolich/zeitronix gear to DIY it isn't a bad thing if you are really keen and extremely particular in what you want.

@@MrBCRC I have a Powervision on my Harleys and have used other Dynojet products previously. I would go woolich on my Katana if I wanted more out of it. I have used EFILive on previous GM cars. I agree on STD vs SAE when like for like but see many videos stating an increase in hp over a previous shop, when all that has changed is the correction factor or tuners stating "We are in Colorado so of course this would make more hp on the dyno at sea level" NO that is the point of the correction factor and would immediately steer me away from that shop.

It's way easier to tune open loop (WOT) portion of fuel map than closed loop portion (partial loads) and messing with transitions between them.

Had my mt09 tracer done else's and it pulls like a train,but its got an annoying stutter in fuelling at 3k to 4k but only on light throttle,if ypu open the taps up its fine but when slow riding its damn annoying.

Mail in is the way to go unless you live close enough to one of the few real professionals you know you can trust. Just because someone owns a dyno doesn't mean they can provide good results. Some of them are still using Power Commanders on sportbikes, for goodness' sake and claiming they are doing professional work despite having no access to ignition mapping, engine braking, fan, idle, and other settings you get from a flash service. As for the accuracy of mail-in, my usual trackdays are at elevations ranging from sea level to 900ft. That's a 3.5% change in density at a given temperature that no bike I own can adjust for. Pretending that fractions of a horsepower can even be measured reliably from one dyno to another is just fantasy. If your bike actually gains 5-10hp from custom tuning, it is much more likely your bike has some issue that needs to be fixed, since it is not running like the thousands of others that came off the same assembly line.

I'm glad I started on a 4RR instead of a 6R tbh. It's nice and smooth until you hit that first power bump at 8.5k rpm onward. Respect the break-in period of the bike and it'll feel better after, the tune is good. My only regret is getting one of the smaller slip-ons because it's ridiculously loud.

Nate, just signed paperwork for my 24 MT09 in Yammie Blue! Will ship out shortly. Saved a grand on it but $500 is eaten up by shipping. Still have enough for the TUNE! Getting LV like you said as I want a deeper, more stock like sound & still get some gains. I'll drop the air filter in too. They dont make it easy on us getting to it tho. Actually, cold oil has less viscosity, while hot oil has more viscosity... 20/50 is a 20 weight (cold) and 50 weight is (warmed up to temp) (cold/warmed up)

It's the spiderman meme where they're pointing at each other. IMHO I would consider it to be a bit shady to take tuned gen3 mt09 fuel map and diff it to a stock gen4 mt09 fuel map to show how different they are and then state that the gen3 tuned map cannot be used as a starting point for the gen4. Total BS and extremely misleading. But the ignorant just lap it up. It takes people who know what they're looking at to see the misleading behaviour.

If you knew anything about this shop, they have to. They get attacked constantly and have for years. And remained quiet for a LONG time before lately finally sticking up for themselves. I’ve had 6 tunes by them and the 100 percent know what they’re doing. Do some research before spouting off. These guys are legit and I’m glad they’re finally standing up for themselves.

What is the best way to achieve a warm engine/oil? Just let it run on idle? And for how long?

It needs to run under load to get the oil up to temperature. As stated in this video, a few non-measured dyno runs through the gears will do the job.

@@celzolsen8988 Just ride it. Same situation, proper warm-up requires operation under load. Sitting at idle will tend to send the coolant temperature high long before it gets the oil warmed up. In a racing situation, do your warm-up lap. Nobody's timing that lap, so use it to get the engine and the tires and yourself sorted out.

@@bikeaddictbp How long do you think I'd have to ride it on the road and not track before it's 'warm'? I'm looking to do a hard break-in (motoman USA's trick) and he recommends warming the engine up first before doing it so was just curious what it means exactly. Thanks for your answers!

@celzolsen8988 For that purpose, you don't need warm-up to the point of extracting the last possible horsepower! It just needs minimum warm-up to make sure the oil is circulating and there's a little heat in the pistons and valves. Personally I'd just let it idle for a minute or so and then give 'er.
