In a few months we are planning to bring our 2021 Rocket 3 for dyno tuning for another land speed racing run at Bonneville after we find another exhaust system . We will be running wide open for a couple miles. The density of altitude typically is between 6000 and 7800 feet. Last year we got 152 mph with the bike at Bonneville, I'm not confident the tune on this bike is correct either.

how much room for timing do stock bikes leave? can you usually add a degree or two and pick up torque?

That depends entirely on the bike. The answer is almost never +8 over stock at WOT.

Saddest part is people spend 10s of thousands of dollars to get a harley, and my near stock dr650 keeps up to them almost up to 80! That's just sad! Oh and my dr is a 1994! No where's near as new and half the horse power and just one cylinder. The best type of system involves no computer control systems. All those sensors just create issues. I'll stick with slight carb adjustments and exhaust pipes, with a change up of sprockets every now and then. K.I.S.S.

How does listening to you complain about a different tuner help anyone watching this video? All you sound like is a guy with an ax to grind. Calling everyone else a clown. Well what do you think people are saying about you? Might want to rethink your marketing strategy. This ain’t convincing me of anything. As far as I know you made all of this up. It’s not a good look. Just stick to what you can do. Bashing some imaginary tuner? Name them. If you are speaking the truth then you have nothing to worry about. The boogy man tuner stories just isn’t very convincing.

@phillygoat 0 seconds ago whole can o’ worms opened up here. First of all- I really appreciate the length you go to demonstrate these industry-wide problems. And your attention to detail (or simply doing a thorough, comprehensive tune;) is admirable. It’s obvious you care about doing good work and providing valuable service to your customers. That said- from my perspective as a reasonably intelligent person and PNW track rider/racer… it’s been exhausting to try to navigate the vendor / tune world over the past 4 years racing. Trying to know who to trust, discern who knows best for a specific topic, and build rapport with. Most shit-talking each other or at least casting doubt on other’s abilities. If I just paid a guy $$$ for ( ) service and turn around to hear how he’s the worst and doesn’t know shit… how is that supposed to make me feel that anyone is trust-worthy? (This is the exact scenario that happened to me about the former Twins Cup RS 660 that I picked up last year). My point is that I have detailed conversations with shop owners, mechanics, suspension folks, etc. but I’m always going to be at the mercy of their integrity (or lack there of), because I am not an expert! If I see some “tuner” called… PUNISHERTÜN or something, with misspelled words in their ad, etc. that’s one thing, but I don’t have the bandwidth to vet each shop, especially when it’s one with an established reputation. This shit is tiresome! Rant over- I just wanted to acknowledge the work you do, but also give feedback about the problem with “doing your own research”. I’m in the medical field, and there’s a reason for evidence-based practice and peer-reviewed journal articles. In the meantime- I just picked up a ‘20 KTM 1290 Superduke that will need some attention once I replace the giant OEM cat/header. Email forthcoming. Cheers!

I get it. Many of the "old guard" racing and trackside vendors in the PNW have been around so long that they have invariably all screwed each other over at some point. They're all just fighting for their own patch of dirt, so to speak, and they'll happily slander anyone in the process just to promote themselves and make a buck. We refuse to call out other tuners by name anymore on social media simply to stay above that cesspool. It's probably the single biggest reason why you won't ever find us providing our services to the public, trackside. It's truly a waste of our time and money, and it's just too much damn drama at a race weekend. For the most part, the fastest guys in the PNW still have their bikes tuned by us (the proof is in the many repeat lap and club records in the past decade), and that's good enough for us as far as club involvement is concerned. We happily sponsor fun events every season to promote the sport as a whole, like 2Fast's Superpole series, but you won't find our wallet opening up to sponsor WMRRA/OMRRA directly again anytime soon unless things change pretty dramatically. Our money is FAR better spent working with, and advertising our services with, partners at the MotoAmerica level. There's still drama there obviously, but it's a fraction of what occurs at the club level, and it actually allows us to advance our skillset through working with the top guys truly at the cutting edge of motorcycle performance in this country.

Yep. After seeing how much money I lost on performance parts in the past, going forward my bikes might get comfort upgrades; seat, suspension, bars, etc. I can actually feel those across the entire throttle range. Don't care for sound (YMMV) and my skills will never get to the stock bikes capabilities. So, I'll trust the factory engineers for ECM settings and leave it at that.
@2wheeldynoworks
@2wheeldynoworks 4 сағат бұрын
Why? We have flashed literally thousands of them here with nothing but amazing results and happy riders. This isn't meant to dissuade someone from wanting to modify their vehicle. It's meant to educate the public on the potential woes of just trusting someone based on their appearance or self promoting claims. People simply need to do their own research before drinking the koolaid. For example, feel free to hop on over to any owner/rider group for either generation of the FZ/MT-10 platform, and you will find us as the recommended tuner for these bikes by virtually everyone there.

Just your thoughts on Chris Moore as a tuner
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 11 сағат бұрын
Just the fact Chris does "pops and bangs" tunes as a total customer desired options, zero caution whatsoever, does this bother your conscience? How much more evidence do people need to be clued in on. Do you think Chris tunes all the turbo drag bikes? He fiddles around in a laptop at the strip, yes. He isn't much of a street rider, doesn't like corners, doesn't go to a race course, doesn't data log customer bikes. He's had videos where he's got multiple ecu's on the desk waiting for flashes. Sorry sonny, the R&D necessary to get quality numbers plugged into all the tables doesn't work that way. Drag strips are wide open throttle zones. Part throttle and hooking a launch without spinning or bogging are just time-robbing enemies to slay on your way to wide open throttle. You don't have to "waste your time" doing all the hard R&D like 2wdw has described to get an engine to work well at WOT. But that's less than 1% of the entire riding population.
@aintnodisco7127
@aintnodisco7127 7 сағат бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket I don't know Moore from Adam. But "pops and bangs" tunes are an aesthetic choice. Some people like them and in and of themselves, they're not detrimental. Even APR had such a tune for the Golf R. But sure, you're right in that choosing any person to muck around in your ECU is a lot like picking a back alley surgeon based on "I heard this guy is good" and hoping for the best. 2wdw presents a good method. But even then, sending in an ECU and getting it flashed based on tuning results from an example that is not the bike that the ECU came from requires a leap of faith that settings and conditions are so similar that the tune is completely valid. That is, you still take your chances regardless.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 6 сағат бұрын
@@aintnodisco7127 Please explain the ignition and fueling process that creates the afterfire before it is assumed as "aesthetic". Hint: it's in the video, and it's dangerous for the engine. There's a night and day difference between knock and combustion. Knock is explosions, combustion is burn. Knock spikes cylinder pressures crazy high.

Its idiotic to tune a stock bike past the factory rev limiter. The redline is there to keep the engine safe and reliable. There is another "Tuner" that is well known for raising the RPM limiter when all its going to do is shorten the life span of the engine.

Depends on the case as well who the rider is and tuner as you must understand that the maker of said engine might restrict the engine rpm as way to limit power or emissions take a look back at rally racing

Marketing tactic for not calling out the shop. They want you to be scared and use 2WDW. Call out the shop and let’s get the WHOLE story. Afraid of slander? If it’s the truth there is no slander. If you are the best tuner show all cards and let’s see. 😊

@ He has no reason to lie. Additionally, he can only go by what he sees and what his customers tell him. Im in a few motorcycle facebook groups. And some so called Tuners do a halfass job. For him to not get sued he would have to get take the ECU to the tuner himself and then inspect it. Its not worth all that. He has more than proven he knows what he is doing.

There's literally zero benefit for us to do so, and we're above that sort of behavior. Sadly, there's also far more folks proving poor quality tuning like this than there are providing properly developed, high quality custom intake/exhaust-specific ECU mapping. We would be calling out an enormous number of people. The point of these videos is to urge folks to not fall for an entertaining KZbin or social media personality, and actually do some research or question the tuner directly about their specific year/model motorcycle. When questioned, folks like just the particular tuner whose work we are showing in this video tend to fall back on their alleged reputation and experience as a whole instead of speaking directly to the content of the asked technical question(s). The lack of technical knowledge and platform-specific answers to owners' questions is the dead giveaway that they're a charlatan. This is why we always urge folks that are interested in our service to never hesitate to ask us questions via email about proper tuning for their bike's specific intake/exhaust combination. We have nothing to hide, and we're happy to share our expertise on the platforms that we support.
