I was born (and still am) legally blind in my left eye, I can't really see anything except if I cover my right eye and focus. My brain pretty much ignores my left eye and what it sees. So I have always had problems with depth perception, but I still have monocular depth perception. Saying all this, this game really messes with me and hurts my brain, but I'm used to having a hard time telling depth.
@saugesmith27605 жыл бұрын
I also had two thoughts, making this game must have been hard and weird as heck, like the coding and art and design, the other thought was this would be a really cool super power, messing with reality based on your perception and other peoples as well.
@rodolphov.santoro88295 жыл бұрын
@@saugesmith2760 It's not that hard to make games that mess with perception actually. Since with 3d Graphics you always have an algorithm that deals with perception, thanks to our 2d screens. Also it feels really weird watching people play this game, because even without a health issue, people usually freak out with optical ilusions. But working with Computer Graphics in general(although i don't work with it currently) is really fun to me. So i'm just nerding out whenever some clever perspective trick is done(like when i went to an escher exibition, or created a non-euclidian 3d renderer and gave it to a friend who's an artist). It feels like i'm being judged for enjoying it. Although in your case i can understand it must be physically painfull(sorry for your condition).
@Crazimo5 жыл бұрын
Rodolpho V.Santoro I don’t know much about computer programming, but even I think it’s cool whenever the game does neat tricks like you said. As a person who frequently had memorable lucid dreams as a kid, this game makes perfect sense to me. You really do perceive your environment as a construct that gets built and moves around, showing that understanding by making the dreamscape a set with wheels under the walls really does make sense. You kinda... swim through what you’re choosing to have in front of you, rather than strictly ‘walk’ or anything; that’s how the flexibility of the environment works inside my head at least.
@dashiellgillingham45793 жыл бұрын
Also; something else that made perfect sense to me; you can in fact meaningfully communicate with yourself in dreams through dream logic. That doesn’t means words but that does mean ‘I am in a calm environment but I need to move urgently,’ which is what the doctor and simulated voice were trying to get across. Considering the way the voice of harsh reality informed this person of something that sounded extremely bad as the best possible option, I think this is the mind of someone who procrastinated on something and feels stressed about it even when there is no danger associated with it, which (I believe) is a common enough experience for anyone to sympathize with.
@dashiellgillingham45793 жыл бұрын
I guess while I’m writing this for anyone who happens to see it, I should ask how other people’s memories of their dreams decay. The older the memories of my dreams get the more they blank out in black and purple, with really ancient ones (15+ years) degrading until they look like they’re made of thin layers of white and blue lace.
@dashiellgillingham45793 жыл бұрын
Maybe it’s age... that could make sense. Although that implies my brain had distinct stages of development from roughly birth to age four or five, age five or six to age fourteen to fifteen, and the stage I’m in right now, each saving it’s dream memories in different and only barely compatible formats.
