10 minutes in, I'm already screaming "NO JON, MOVE THE MECH TO THE GUY ATTACKING THE BUILDING! Then you could have moved the tank, done 1 damage and moved an insect onto one of the spawn points, killing it, and stopping a spawn, then used the artillery on the last bug to do some damage!" I really am such a backseat gamer, and I love it!
@bengwa77 жыл бұрын
Me 2.. oh so much
@Triaxx27 жыл бұрын
Not to mention at least one spot where he could have totally avoided any damage to anything by considering all his options. Such as using the artillery to push one bug into another and reducing it's health to kill with the mech while using the tank to save the Corporate HQ. Chat's going to die this weekend.
@JacoDeltaco7 жыл бұрын
yes but to be fair he does make poor chose
@tommerker80637 жыл бұрын
i'm usualy not that bg of a backseat gamer, but jons low perception realy got me this time xD jon:"there is no possible way to do this" when there are like 3 ways he can do it, then he even moves his guys to the right position and fires in the opposite one xD maybe he is just doing it on purpose ;)

"You can kill giant bugs by punching them into mountains." SAY NO MORE, I WILL - aww, 11 hours until it unlocks? But I wanna play it nooooooowwww!
@tzeneth7 жыл бұрын
Watching John sometimes feels painful. The amount of damage he does to his own units and that turn where he killed his tank. You could have used the artillery shell to kill the back guy, then moved the tank to the artillery shot and shot the 2 health guy into the mountain, killing it, and then had the robot punch the last guy... One should not watch this video if prone to backseat gaming. John's perception is not the best at the puzzle action game.

There was that one FTL livestream where he nearly beat the Rebel Flagship on hard mode. DOUBLE PIKE BEAM!

Note to all other game developers: Even though we are less than 2 full months into 2018, I regret to inform you that you all will now be competing for slots 2-10 of Jon's annual Top 10 picks. Thank you for your submissions and don't feel bad. 2nd place is pretty darned swell, too! Edit: A surprise release of Fallout 5 is the Golden Snitch, but barring that, you devs crank out the best 2-10th place games you can!
@Kaiimei7 жыл бұрын
This really doesn't seem like guaranteed 1st place material over stuff like Abandon Ship, Stellaris Apocalypse, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, My Time In Portia, Thrones of Brittania, and plenty of other games that Jon has already played this year and will play this year. 4/5/6th place seems like a nice place for it though.

And to check it's resolution, the UI scale, whether my recording software works with it - there are legitimate reasons to turn on a game for 5 minutes before recording!
@goatbot97337 жыл бұрын
I understand that there are plenty of good reason but I'm just saying that sounds like it wasn't the only reason for it. Can't really blame you though, it looks like a pretty well designed little game
@ManyATrueNerd7 жыл бұрын
There are so many touches that are awesome too. Like if you have the grappling hook for pulling over enemies - fire at a fixed thing like a mountain and you pull yourself over to it.
@goatbot97337 жыл бұрын
It'll be interesting to see what strategies actually come out of these touches. Sometimes it's the small things that are overlooked which can be rough on the presentation. Are you planning on doing any more of it or is it just more of glimpse of it for the time being?

Jon! Your perception is -1. At 54 (the hq match) if you had moved the tank to the reinforcement square and then shot down to the bug attacking the hq you would of saved the hq. Then move the artillary so it can attack the bug next to the tank, saving your grid AND getting your tank to safety.

28:12 That animated preview attack reminds me of Luffy's first fight in gear second against Bruno of CP9. 1:15:35 You should've attacked the left of the bug which would commit suicide by jumping into a chasm instead onto your mech.

A game that requires tactical awareness, strategy, and noticing things that aren't exactly subtle but also aren't flashing in huge red letters on screen (and even then not always), and it's the first or second time he's played? Yeah, we can generally predict how that will go ahead of time.
