One automatic weapon that really benefits from flat crit is the Gatling laser. Laser commander adds 10% flat crit chance to laser weapons. This combined with light touch and both levels of set lasers for fun can get your crit chance with the Gatling laser up to about 20% despite the x0.02 crit multiplie.

I'd really love Jon to give the All-American a proper go in this run. I genuinely think he would actually quite like it if he used it for a while rather than just a brief test-fire before shelving it. He loves using VATS and it's there where it really shines, and there's no situation it's ever bad in, especially with all the 5.56mm ammo types. Throw on the Grunt perk if you find yourself liking it and it just gets better. I mean, he used to not be a big fan of That Gun and now it's the weapon he's probably used most on this run. Maybe this could be the series he learns to love the All-American!

If you get the GRX perk with all chem buffs & perks, one bump out of the ten you get per day should give you 22 seconds...but they are stackable. You can take all ten at once & get 220 seconds of slow time. Which is what I use to get past Elijah with the gold at sierra madre.

I've done the little mission in Vault 34 to help the farmers or those trapped people. I was disappointed I don't get to meet this trapped family or get a thank you message. Which makes me theorize that the message was sent ages ago and the family died, thus no one was saved. So good to know they were hiding somewhere (if this isn't cut content) but how did they survive?!

The vault´s 34 armor is one of the best amors in the game, 18dt (of course is light). Is a great way to honor the vault dwelers if you chose to lock them forever and save the crops from NCR

Wow, the reward for saving the vault dwellers is really not worth it, there is another advanced radiation suit in the canyon at the south of the map. All you have to kill is a few golden geckos, it's just sitting there, on the ground.

Yeah the spawning isn't just your imagination. First time I went into Vault 34 was with Veronica and ED-E tagging along. And I kept seeing them run off and get downed by ghouls in areas I had already cleared. The unlimited ghoul spawns are definitely the reason I don't do it more often. Funny thing is though, I did fully do it on that first run. And I chose to seal the vault ventilation. Mostly because I didn't think anyone actually was alive down there necessarily. I mean I know they are from later runs. But honestly it sounded liek the disaster was so long ago (Generations of Boomers since then, everyone ghoulified) that I figured the message on the terminal was something that might have been left a century or two ago. Not a couple of days ago or something. I was foiled by logic.

The spawns are not unlimited but yes more are spawned at certain triggers usually from walking through doorways. You can definitely fully clear it out though. And yeah I don't understand how the people being trapped for only a few days makes any kind of sense either. Unless they've been trapped for decades and we're freeing the inbred offspring of the original people trapped.

I don't think they're unlimited, when you go through first time, you can see rooms with ghouls trapped inside behind glass, and doors that don't open, when you pass certain trigger points, the ghouls will break out behind you through these doors, with the door model being replaced with a broken one with the hole the ghouls broke through.

@@mappingshaman5280 Might just be me, but I always got the impression that Ghoulification was kind of a slow process in Fallout. Like The Vault Dweller in Fallout 1 doesn't turn into a Ghoul because they stayed in Necropolis for a week, etc. It was something that happened over years. So since everyone is a feral ghoul basically that's definitely what put me on the track of thinking it was a longer time frame.

I actually figured out a way to "kill" the overseer without killing him in my pacifist run. The turrets are his cryptonite. If you shoot one with a low enough calibre weapon to frenzy it without killing it, it will usually kill the other turret. You also have to make sure it survives the other turret exploding. Then that turret will target all ghouls, overseer included. The only problem is to get the turret to finish him off without dying yourself. You have to stand on the overseers platform to not be attacked by ghouls and the turret. This however causes the ghouls to cower in the basement where radiation heals them.The solution is have the turret kill all the weaker ghouls and then whittle down the overseer until he has almost no health and then let the turret finish him.

IMO this dungeon is possibly the hardest area in the base game by far. The amount of super-powered ghouls in here is nuts. I remember my last playthrough, I went through about 30-40 stimpacks and a bunch of radaway. The ghoul mask makes it look like a joke but this dungeon is hard asf even in you have a max leveled character. I only go in here for the ALL AMERICAN... (probably my favorite gun in the franchise) Then Jon just walks through it in like 15 minutes lmao

I actually come to vault 34 a lot in my playthroughs, even if it's just to get the guns and bullets there (I like to grab all the skill books). Also my favorite weapon in the game is the riot shotgun which you can get in the armory. Sure you can get one from one of an Omerta thug guarding the casino storage or just wait until the Vendortron sells it at level 16 but like I said I go there anyways. Now, in regards to the All American, Jon says it has the second lowest ap cost. It's actually the joint lowest along with the recharger pistol (in New Vegas at least, 3 has the alien pulverizer or whatever it's called at 12 and a couple of terrible knives, the ritual knife also at 12 and the toy knife at 10 but they're terrible). If you use it with the concentrated fire perk you can get very high hit ratings even at very long range, it can make absurd shots repeatedly that other weapons can't hope to make at all. So it does have a niche if you spec into a bit.

I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet but the All American does have another thing going for it that Jon doesn't bring up. It has low strength requirements of 4 and only weighs 6lbs. For low strength builds this gun can really be the only weapon you carry as it does basically everything with minimal special requirements. For sickos like me who purposely play with limited carry capacity, this gun is the GOAT!

Just a fun fact about movement speed: I have (indirectly) thoroughly tested this by playing the dust mod with a mod that raises the rates at which the hardcore rates go up. Fast travel 100% takes you longer than it would to walk that distance on foot - with or without turbo. Seeing that it's based on your current movement speed, I would assume they just took the distance from point A to B and put a certain multiplier on your current move speed to account for having to move around obstacles and what not

In fact I made a specific build for this and the two best armours are Joshua Gramhs armour and Sierra Madre, it had the highest base protection. I took that with Kamakize and the plus crit trait, for more crit. By end game most guns I had were critical hitting every strike I also only used one handed weapon's and no two handed weapons with survival only to heal

Slow travel is faster than fast travel. It's always been. Playing with RND I often just run in Skyrim or take only short hops as by the time my character reaches the far destinations in fast travel, I'm starving, dehydrated and exhausted.

Fyi Jon, in future, if you ever need to boost a special stat, (for example agility) you can just use the command 'player.modav agility 1' Where you swap agility for whatever special you want to modify and the 1 for however many points you wish to add. To swap it back you use "player.modav agility -1' where 1 is once again whatever value you added. Its much easier than putting yourself into debt.

I know I'm a week late, but I was on vacation last week. I'm SO glad to see Jon FINALLY give the All-American the love it deserves. He's been so quick to dismiss it every time it's brought up, but it's by far, imo, the single best jack-of-all-master-of-none in the game. Cheap and plentiful ammo, HP/AP ammo availability, magazine size, scope for longer range shots, quick fire rate, VATS cost. It may do fuck all when it comes to crits(and it is fuck all, it doesn't have ANY bonus damage on a crit), but that is the downside, there aren't any others to me. I always carry Paciencia and an Anti-Mat rifle, but this is the gun I have out 90% of the time from the moment I get it. I even do Vault 34 as early as is reasonable just to get it.

Just an Advanced Radiation Suit for saving those people? Seriously?! You can buy those from the Crimson Caravan vendor, and there's more people that sell it! You can even get one for free in the sewers with average lockpicking, or by irradiating Cottonwood Cove so Lucullus wears one. The game got my hopes up when your character asked for a vault trinket and the guy talked about useful technology. I don't think anyone ever uses those suits when a dose of Rad-X gives you all the resistance you're going to need in most situations. Now I'm glad I've never bothered completing that stupid quest in that annoying vault, it's so not worth it.
