Stopped into ‪@delamomotorsportsgroup‬ in Orange County. MSRP of these bikes are the same, the side profiles are strikingly similar... the T7 is "tech free" while the Transalp is loaded with tech. Here I tell you "what I feel" different between them at first sit. What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know! Which would you choose!?

I'm loving my Transalp. All the haters online being upset is hilarious. The KTM 390 I had before felt like a toy after i test rode the Honda . So made the transition 🎉 couldn't be happier with it.

@@TheZakkmylde to what? The Transalp's dimensions are better, better ground clearance, better suspension, 21" front/18" rear, more horsepower. The KTM 390 ADV is a nice bike, but it is a street bike (Duke) being compared to the Transalp. If you like the 390 ADV cool. No hate, but I am going off spec to spec comparison. In that respect for me, Transalp > KTM 390 Adventure by leaps and bounds. Let's be clear, we are not talking about the Transalp vs KTM 890 ADV, we are talking about the 390 ADV.

I dropped the 901 Norden for the KTM 390ADV, due to the weight. This thing is only 375lbs and I sailed it 90mph on the interstate today. And, that's with a 14 tooth front sprocket! It needs springs, but for $6800, it's a steal. Honda need to make that 500CB into a dirt oriented ADVbike with killer suspension and low weight with electronics like the AT.

The Transalp will be a good fit for a lot of people and it will do fine on fire roads and other nontechnical riding that most riders do. Not that many people ride hard offroad and there are plenty of choices for those who do.

Thanks for the video. I think both bikes should come with tubeless rims, keyless start, cruise control, and a way to keep ABS disabled when you stop and restart. I also think both should have slightly larger tanks, which you can choose to keep full or partially empty depending on the riding you are doing. The Honda should come with some basic bash plate and a lighter exhaust. Just my thoughts. I will probably end up with a used one within the next three years, hopefully not abused and purchased by a rider that did not get out much.

I love your way of thinking! All of these bikes should go 300 miles on a tank of fuel... I HATE stopping for fuel every 150 miles, that is horrible. Tubeless wheels... just upgraded my 390 and its fantastic. I don't care about keyless start, but ABS delete and cruise could be helpful.

I don't really need much off road capability, but given how low the clearence is on the Transalp, it should come standard with a bash plate, and would much prefer tubeless tires too.

Just picked up a Transalp in Canada. I have both a CB500X and a R1200GS currently. I was looking for something in between like a 750 that could do both roles. It may be too early to tell but I'm starting to regret my choice of the Transalp. It's worse in town than the 500X and worse than the GS on the highway. Too big of an ask perhaps. I will likely stick with the GS for now.

Just got back from the first 100 mile loop on my new TransAlp. For me, this bike is what I have been waiting for! Pulls harder than my GS 1200. Very quick 0 to 60. Quick shifter is next level. Brand new seat and suspension needs to get worked in, but workable. Brakes are excellent. Still breaking it in so I didn't max rev it yet. This bike is a mile cruncher. Smooth with low revs at highway speeds. Ordered all the mods for protection of exhaust, sump, and plastics. For the quality, comfort, fit and finish, and especially the price you won't find better. Very happy to own one - next month Kyle we can meet up and ride it. Ride safe everyone.

I dont understand why nobody compares the sprockets when they compare this motorcycles. The Teneré pulls 15T front sprocket and 46T on the rear sprocket while the Transalp pulls 16T 45T....this is a HUGE difference. If you put 15T/46T on the Transalp it will lift the front wheel until 4th gear, it will be too much torque. If you put 16T/45T on the Transalp it wont move. That is the real difference in 20 horse power.

Well I did some looking . Transalp is a great bike . Ok the suspension a little too soft, but most ADV bikes are . Put a whole new suspension on it, about 2500 to 3k . And you will transform this bike to another level . The T7 is a good bike but in a diffrent light . Traveling get something else . If your gonna stay local the T7 is fine . Myself I can't see paying 18k plus to bounce around in the woods or mountain top and so forth . Keep it cheap . Not for nothing but my 1990 DR350S is just the right mix for a trail bike . Dealerships wont give us a 100 bike . They be slicing their own throats at the end . They want the the aftermarket to strive . Oh and when you do the suspension on the transalp you should get a one inch ground clearance more and the hard hits should lighten up a bit as well . Then that Transalp will be proper or at least have a very nice platform to finish a build on .

Of course when you’ve just come off of your 1190 a T7 will feel gutless in comparison, remember, it’s 700 cc, just a bit more than half the displacement. Even after I ride my old DL1000 I feel a big difference between that and my T7 but, different bikes. Try riding a 650 thumper then hopping on the Tenere, it’ll feel like a rocket. I’ve never felt the T7 lacking in power on the road, but then, I generally keep it under 85.

@@manybikes The Transalp engine is very smooth which it should be because it is the same NCX engine. The mapping is road biased for sure meaning the TRANSALP spirit is gone. As for the Tenere it is slightly underpowered but more "direct" and it spins up much faster. Nope. Like I said I am a huge Honda fan (durability) but this time around they missed the mark and the T won flat out. Did you see what Honda did with the Africa Twin Adventure? They are turning it into a quasi off road-ish but preferably road based DCT driven bike. Again, they are completely missing the point of the Africa Twin spirit. All the electronic gizmos in the Transalp is way too much. They should also have made it tubeless, and yes the exhaust design is utterly shitty which messes up ground clearance. don't get me wrong it is a good day runner but not a Transalp per se. They should've given it a different name. maybe the "Outback". because you sure as hell do not want to advertise it in front as a Transalp. LoL

Opinions are like assholes and everyone with a Suzuki , Tenere, and Aprilia has a lot to say about the Honda. So here is mine. A lot more excitement around the launch of this bike . Suzuki launch was like crickets and they had to give out bikes to reviewers to get any kind of marketing 😂. The Yamaha is ok but old news. Aprilia well is just that a niche market.

What were Honda thinking about with the sump though? it sticks down several inches from the perceived bottom of the engine and is beyond laughable, it will also be very expensive and dangerous if not protected - exhaust routing is bad enough but the damn sump is dangerous - once a bashplate is on you will be lucky to get 4inch clearance max and then the shock that squats as soon as ripple in the road appears, OMG you're gonna be dragging this bashplate and engine down the easiest of gravel roads, this does not suit the Transalp name if you ask me, none adjustable suspension should be burned at birth, such a cheap move, so cheap - they pulled it on the crf and keep doing it, insulting and dangerous T7 is leagues ahead if you wish to go off road - Transalp is a road bike, a good looking road bike and nothing more - it will be ok driving across the campsite

Totally agree the ground clearance is an issue!
@tactical1224
@tactical1224 10 ай бұрын
Agreed. Can't believe that Honda would have designed it like this. With the sump sticking down so low, it wasn't a big deal for Honda to just stick the exhaust under the engine, since the sump was already down there. It's almost like they tried to hide the sump by routing the exhaust down there too. Did they think that for this type of bike, that the potential customers wouldn't notice how it affected ground clearance? Hard to fathom...

Ya, have you checked out the oil sump on that Honda?? I've be disappointed in Honda over the last few years. Not innovating much, more of a follower/ bare minimum mentality for the last half decade. They cant even field a competitive GP bike anymore.. Though I haven't sat on or ridden that thing, I get the feeling it's more of a grocery getter than an adv bike. Low oil sump, low exhaust 0 innovation have to remove the tank for air filter maint. Naaaa.

Apparently Honda decided to put that aluminum stalactite in the middle of the oil pan rather than use an oil to water oil cooler. On the Hornet it’s disconcerting but the TransAlp shouldn’t leave the showroom without a bash guard. So my next question is once the guard is there does the oil pan protrusion lose its function as a cooler? We’ll never know.
