I noticed two things 1. Lakan apparently did this long ago to woo a woman, Maomao’s mother since he had no interest in women before and after her. 2. Lakan has Prospagnosia (face blindness); basically he has a really hard time remembering peoples faces. He knows a few (like MaoMao), but for the majority, visualizing people as pieces is his compensation mechanism.
