As proud New Zealander I have to say this is normal in our country, get a team of Maori men or women or both together and they love to sing. Kia ora guys

Hard to believe there are so many lovely voices in a non-choir group - so tuneful.

Have been away for 50 years, all the old ones have gone even my generation few left, disconnected except for the music and the All Blacks.

It's nice to hear the men sing a waiata on their own without the women, bcos u can hear the harmonising now an then. Awesome song well sung, it shows who's been listening and singing in school choirs lol........ A old song taught to kids in primary and high school ❤️

I'm not aware of other western countries that acknowledge their indigenous roots like we do. Are we the only ones that do this? Nice waiata!

Lew Rodd its not hard to know the indigenous people of the land... If you don't know then that is ignorance.

I love NZ for this. Such a beautiful country.

Hardly think our people are acknowledged here in NZ...we are still fighting for stolen lands and resources...not to mention for every inch we gotta fight for out there to be acknowledged.....stop telling lies

@@jessejames2049 he raises a valid point. Or can you name a country that incorporates indigenous values on a daily bases? We also have and continue to strive at building a better nation.

@@nepiahemopo1702 what are you saying brother. all Polynesians do the same. Maoris are Polynesians and you are tangata whenua of this land. we Samoans our culture is very old and although we travel and live abroad we never forget our roots, our customs, our language and our culture. our ancestor thought hard to be independent from colonial rulings and we finally independent in 1962. Young Maoris are now well educated and are doing a wonderful job to learn your mother tongue, also fight to gain back what was yours. Please this is social media and when comments like yours responding to the question it is an insult to all Polys. Your ancestors migrated from Polynesia and settled in this land. We all have the same vision, The land and it's people, we are the guardians, and our spirits must be insync with nature all around us. That is with our thoughts, our actions, our language and culture.
