Got a giant wrench symbol on F150 screen and OBD showed pending errors. Didn't know if a sensor was bad or broken, or wiring was worn out. We were 400 miles from home in a small town. Cleaned sensor as shown in video and was able to drive home with no problems and the truck running smoother than before. All at the cost of a can of CRC. Thanks.

I have a 2013 ECO and have done this several times using carburetor cleaner. After needing cleaning 3 times (usually once a year when it starts) you may as well buy a new censor because it doesn't seem to last very long after cleaning 3 times. But excellent video; to the point for the average mechanic. I would show how to remove the plastic engine cover. Some people have issues with that but it's easy if you need to know; pull off oil cap, pull up on cover in the front and pull toward you, it should pop right off.

Great video Brandon! I will clean my sensors soon. Just wanted to add that I cleaned the connection today to the map sensor on top the air box. I found moisture in the connection. The reason I did that is my Turbo blow off valve would click intermittently. Someone suggested cleaning the connection and it worked! A month ago I replaced the blow off valve with an OEM valve and it continued to click. Question for you, when you disconnect the battery, do you wait 8 hours before you start the truck so the Battery management system can relearn? I was told if you do not have the expensive scan tool that waiting 8 hours is advisable..

Thank you! This was super helpful. My mileage has been terrible lately, and then I just had a check engine light on yesterday. Ran over to AutoZone and it was showing "P0172 System Too Rich (Bank 1)". They recommended replacing the MAP Sensor. Do I need to replace all three, or just one (bank 1?), or do they just all need cleaned? I think I'll start by inspecting all three this weekend at a minimum.
@tsi87supr60 Жыл бұрын
The 3rd maf sensor air flow is after the pcv recirculating system. Hence the oil coating. If the pcv could be routed to a point after the 3rd sensor position it would not get the dreaded oil coating.

@richardwhite87476 жыл бұрын
Even though they are all physically the same two wire element sensor, they are not all functioning as a MAP sensor. Only the one on top of the motor is functioning as a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure). The other two are simply measuring air temp. First one is measuring temp as it comes in airbag. Second one is measure air temp post turbo. Another fun fact - they are all actually two wire MAF sensors. Caused a ton of confusion, as parts manual calls the ones in the inlet MAF sensors, but there is not MAF listed in the PCM strategy. They just used an existing sensor design that can do multiple functions.
@bskifton6 жыл бұрын
Good to know. It's a lot easier to just call them all MAP sensors though.

The map sensors can go bad over time. They're not usually a past that goes bad but they are also fairly cheap and easy to replace. Make sure you look up your codes thoroughly, it might be a different issue. If you haven't replaced the spark plugs and boots, that is a pretty cheap and easy thing too. Takes about 45 mins.

P012B Ford F150 Diagnose and Fix P012B Ford F150 Trouble code P012B Ford F150 relates to Turbocharger/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance. The code sets when the manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) detects pressure outside an acceptable value. The book shows that P012B can be caused by a slow MAP sensor or a damaged MAP sensor. But it can also be caused by a a bad Turbocharger/Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor. Diagnose P012B Ford F150 Start by unplugging connector C1667, which is the connector for the turbocharged intake pressure and temperature sensor. The connector is located in the left (driver’s side) front section of the underhood compartment. Using a DVOM, check for the presence of a 5-volt reference signal and ground in the connector with the key in the ON position

I don’t get it. These aren’t all MAP sensors… the one on the manifold is the MAP sensor and the other two are simply air temp sensors so the computer can take air temp into account for a/f mixture… you could have cleaned all 3 of these with carb cleaner or brake cleaner with no harm done as they’re aren’t MAF sensors…
