Many thanks for video-instruction and for all questions / answers. Now, I have to try myself......and report later. A fiew hours later, here I am again, to report. I had a little spot to try, how it will work. Easy, but: you have to move, not stand around dreaming. And I will recommend WARM water to brush off and for cleaning. Most important seems to me: respecting time-limits given by manufacture.

So I finally gave this product a go. It is definitely very hard to spread. Almost felt like I was trying to spread a thick peanut butter and you need to pay a lot of attention when Cleaning. But overall it seems worth the money. I wouldn’t mix more than maybe 8 m² with (300mmx600mm) tiles unless you are experienced. Ps. I didn’t use the Cleaning spray solution stuff. I just used clean buckets of tap water. And the following day went back in with some citrus cleaner just to double check.

hint: use warm water to wash it off, not cold one. a simple reason for doing so is that the material is fat-like, just like you don't wash your dish with cold water :)

How about the corners? Is it a good idea to use epoxy grout in corners when tiles are put over a drywall? Or this must be avoid and use caulk instead?
@MapeiUK3 жыл бұрын
Good Morning Simeon, our Technical Services Team have said in any corners a sealant should be used, such as Mapesil AC for porcelain, ceramic etc, or Mapesil LM for Natural Stone, Marble etc. I hope this helps you out. Should you require anything further please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks.

If you wanted to avoid sealant all together for the inside corners there are trim options like the DILEX BWA by Schluter that can be used. There are some metal trims that can serve this function too. Each project is different, but you definitely need a movement joint to prevent the possibility of cracking and other associated failures due to expansion and contraction of building and tile elements.

Can I use the Mapei FA Plus in the corners and edges of the room to allow for movement?
@MapeiUK2 жыл бұрын
Good morning, our technical department think you are referring to an American product which we couldn’t comment on. www.mapei.com/us/en-us/products-and-solutions/products/detail/ultracolor-plus-fa From our point of view in the UK a movement joint should be filled with a silicone sealant eg Mapesil AC or LM. You could contact Mapei US though for their advice. www.mapei.com/gb/en/contact-us/branch-offices-and-plants/?q=&continent=americas&page=2 Many thanks.

Good Moring, sorry for the delay. When using Mapei Kerapoxy CQ the working and full drying time are: • Pot life of mix: 45 minutes • Set to light foot traffic to clean the floor: 12 hours • Ready for use: 3 days Hope that helps, if you require anything further please contact our Technical Services Team on 0121 508 6970 (option 2)
@tufriverboards20544 жыл бұрын
Can you spread for the entire 45min pot life, or can youvonlyvapply a small area at a time. I've noticed with premixed grouts, that are somewhat similar to epoxy grout, you can only spread small sections at a time as they dry up quickly once separated from the container. But with a 2 mix epoxy it should dry due to the thermo reaction between the 2 components, thus the grout on the wall should dry slower than the grout in the bucket. Or am I way off here?
@rudolfschmidt942 Жыл бұрын
My Kerapoxy has the hardener spilled all over the inside of the pail when I opened it. The container that held the epoxy broke and the plastic bag around it leaked the hardener all over the epoxy. FAIL.

@@senadzenica147 It took almost a day for mine to noticeably harden, 3 to cure. That is supposed to be normal but they all talk like it gets rock hard after 45 minutes. It doesn't. I will not smooth out nice or be workable after 45 minutes but does not get hard.

I don't understand. I thoroughly mixed my epoxy grout and it was so thick that the rubber float wouldn't push it into the joints. I did leave the unopened bucket outside in the cold for a few weeks, so maybe I need to let it come to room temperature next time. I had the worst time applying this, but it may have been my own fault.
@winstonsteelscorp59603 жыл бұрын
Did you have a very hard rubber float? If you had a soft rubber float that may have been the problem. Epoxy grout can be a beast to push. Also make sure you are mixing at slow speeds (300 rpm). If you mix at high speed (just about any drill at full speed is way too fast) you trap air and increase the reaction causing it to start locking up on you, or getting really thick. The air also shortens the pot life. Once mixed you have to spread it out into small piles as it is thermo reactive, if left all together it will get thick and harden up quickly. When you are pushing it into the joints it can trap air more than other types of grouts, so working from one end of the joint to the other to push the air out as you work it into the joint.

I divide the 3kg pack into four, and do each bit individually. Also I spray the cleaner on immediately after applying grout, and use an epoxy grout sponge to remove. Finally I wipe over the tiles with a paper towel.
