Man I have been waiting for this video. I saw the knife when Craig put that knife in the raffle. When I heard that Nathan won it I was thinking what a great guy to win it. Then I saw Nathans video announcing that he was saying he was sending it to you. I couldn't help but thinking what a lucky knife.... Made by an awesome dude, won by an awesome dude and then sent to an awesome dude. You have been a great positive influence on KZbin putting out great quality videos and supporting the community. Craig makes some of the most stunning knives I've ever seen. His leather work is also second to none. He's Canadian but he lives and does his work in Germany , although I'm not certain if he's still in Germany . You should see the firesteels and custom firesteel strikers he makes, they're wicked gorgeous. By the way Dave, Nathan4071 has gifted you a monster firesteel, a Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter, and now this stunning maple house knife. If I didn't know any better , I'd say he had a man crush on you, Lol. I gotta get me some friends like Nathan!

Hey Dave! That is a beautiful knife! Tell me, is it possible to maintain that mirror edge? If so, how can you do it? Thanks Dave!
@maplehouseknives6 жыл бұрын
David Fiorini One can maintain the mirror polish by using a strop w/ compound to sharpen the knife

Hi David! Very nice to hear from you, my friend! As Craig mentions below, a good strop with good compound! The exact same way I maintain the mirror edge on my LT Wright Genesis and axes that I've put a mirror edge on! Thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave your excellent question! -Dave

What!? I wasn't first this time!? Lol. Sweet blade bro, and good vid as always. And I agree, they are tools, not show pieces. Use them, but care for them! See ya buddy.

I was wondering what took you so long, my friend....hahaha..JK! Thank you for the kind words and I completely agree about tools not being show pieces and use them but care for them! I was raised on very similar words about tools! -Dave

Gorgeous knife! Polishing an edged like that takes a lot of time, but it should be wicked sharp. You make the best curls on KZbin Dave. What is your go to cordage for bow drills?
@HighCarbonSteelLove6 жыл бұрын
Thank you taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment, my friend! Yes, it arrived very sharp! I use #36 bank line for bow drills. -Dave

Man! Sorry, but I wouldn't want to use that in the field. It would go straight into my place for special knives that shouldn't be used. Maybe I could buy two? It's a beautiful knife.
@HighCarbonSteelLove6 жыл бұрын
Haha..yes picking up 2 would be an excellent idea if you wanted to keep one in your place for special knives. I consider a lot my knives as special knives, however, I need to use them like the tools that they are. Thank you for taking the time to stop by, Brad! -Dave

Oh man.... that knife is awesome! How is the grip on that kirinite? Will you be doing a follow up long term use video? I think Maplehouse is on his way to having his knives back ordered
@HighCarbonSteelLove6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for stopping by, Joe! Nice to hear from you, my friend! Funny you should ask because I completely forgot to mention it in the video but the grip on the scales is outstanding! Very 'grippy'! Not only will I do a long term review but I will show it along the way, as well! I hope everything is going well for you and your family, brother! -Dave

Maplehouse Knives apologies brother that was a genuine mistake I had meant to thumbs up it is a beautiful knife the remark about the edge wasn't intended as criticism it was just an observation :-)
@HighCarbonSteelLove6 жыл бұрын
It came with a tremendous edge and as Craig states below, 1/8" thick. I should've mentioned that in the video. Thank you for watching, Randall! -Dave

I was waiting for the edge test when you bash it through a brick..... 😕 Just kidding, it looks awesome and very special, you're a lucky you tuber. Maybe if I get famous enough he will send me one I can chop a brick up with 😜

It looks like a knife "Utvaer" by Helle but this blade seems to be really nice to use. Its size enables us to do some chopping tasks to cut down smaller branches and we could find that this knife sharply splits into the wood. Therefore, I strongly believe that this blade can be used in the multi-purpose. Only problem is, I can't make a purchase of this knife from Japan...

M K I ship all over the world my friend, Japan included!

Oh, my goodness... Then I should prepare for the future purchase. As I saw in this video, that knife is precious...
@HighCarbonSteelLove6 жыл бұрын
I agree, my friend, it's size really enables it to be multi-purpose! While I do not chop with my knives, I don't think this one would have a problem. The heat treat on the 01 tool steel is outstanding and the handle is very comfortable in many different positions. As Craig has mentioned in his reply below, he ships all over the world! Thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment! -Dave

To bad you can't buy one on the net great looking knife but sorry marketing department 🤔
@maplehouseknives6 жыл бұрын
Eric Dakan My knives are exclusive and custom built by hand. Try getting that from China. No 2 knives built by me are the same, that's what sets me apart from other knife makers. To be able to just purchase them easily on the net is exactly what I do not want. I am a 1 man operation, "marketing dept." included. Thanks at least for watching the video...and the thumbs down.
