MapleStory - Guide to Buccaneer

You left out a few crucial things about buccaneer. During the burst section, you forgot to mention lightning form at all. You also never mentioned that the actual best tool for precise positioning is the ability to press the down arrow to instantly cancel your advanced dash on the ground. Buccaneer is also one of the very few classes in the game where their dashes (advanced dash and corkscrew blow) can both be cast WHILE attacking. If corsckrew blow is used to animation cancel, it goes on a 4 second cool down. Corkscrew blow has a semi-useful and kinda strange chaining system if used before octopunch. If used in this manner, after casting octopunch you will be teleported a short distance to a nearby enemy. Serpent Vortex does NOT act as a dash during the last half. The game just moves your character model and hurtbox in segments along the target path. This means if you are familiar enough with the spacing you can teleport through Lotus' laser in the middle or near the end of the skill. It's quite precise and I wouldn't recommend trying to go for it regularly. Instead wait for defense form to pop and then corkscrew blow through the laser. You will take damage, but it won't kill you. Buccaneer can also "weave" skills similar to kanna by either spamming the keys for octopunch and vortex back to back, or by having a keyboard that can press and hold two keys at once. This can he accomplished either via altgr keyboard layout (to make super jumping easier and chainable by holding down the one button and constantly super jumping) or by have a keyboard that has a LOW enough (yes I said low enough) sample rate that it becomes more consistent to press two or more keys during the same keyboard scan (some keyboards cannot do this due to the matrix scanning.) This causes Windows to spam both keys simultaneously and can be used for weaving or even spamming super jump. Buccaneer can dash using advanced dash WHILE remaining crouched (useful for some bosses) Lastly, when super jumping DO NOT hold left or right. Start the jump from stationary. It will significantly limit the jump's range if directions are held. Hope these tricks helped :) Add me in NA Reboot (IGN Vypara) if you have questions!

@@Decatei As you can tell I like technical and movement-heavy characters haha. I even custom modified my QMK keyboard's firmware to enable the multikey spamming trick by holding multiple keys at once. The timing is precise but it works (fun fact I also use it in Hoyoung to constantly spam heaven's fan gale and thousand ton stone right after each other without actually having to spam the keys.) One last thing I thought of for Bucc: Time Leap can ALSO reset Takeno's blessing. This is INCREDIBLY useful for when you're doing a low stat cpap run, Lucid, or any other boss where Holy Magic Shell-type effects can ignore boss mechanics. Lucid's bomb and cpap's laser cross can both be guarded by Takeno's blessing, and with time leap it's a 3 minute cool down instead of 30 minutes. EDIT: forgot that Lotus' purple balls can also be guarded by Takeno's blessing. It is also an emergency heal to full when your potions are on cd.

Taken right from the Bucc discord itself, listed in terms of priority: Lord of the Deep, bossing trinodes, Lightning Form, Howling Fist, Erda Nova (bind), Serpent Vortex, Goddess Blessing, Overdrive, Pirate Banner, Loaded Dice, then the rest of whichever you still have slots for! (Decent HS, mobbing tris, blink, the other decent skills, rope lift)

Nexon makes it difficult for people to get nodes without just outright buying them in reg servers. For Reboot: Grinding with high drop rate/drop gear, buying them from event shops, or getting the like 2-3 every week from diligent research through Vanishing Journey is pretty much the only feasible ways to reliably get them. They're also sometimes in compensation boxes when Nexon messes up, though this doesn't happen too too often. I hope they up the drop rate of them or let us buy them from general shops in the future cause they're extremely hard to obtain early on

Krrr ring from Hyperspace Cube/Stellar Detectives could help if you need an extra . Another one though a bit more grindy is Takeno's Blessing from post-Mushroom Shrine storyline quest through her Threads of Fate. Otherwise with your existing bucc's skills: jump away with super jump and vortex, and instead save the lightning form orbs as s rather than for burst would be my suggestion. You could also use howling fist as an !

It is still doable! Are you using advanced dash from second job? That's the one that's bindable, not the first job one! It's a bit tricky to pull off the actual superjump. Dash with Advanced Dash bound onto a key, and hit jump slightly afterwards. Almost together, but dash first. Hope this helps!

Since the combo key system was added after I made this video, I never even thought of doing this, but trying it right now I guess it technically works if you wanted to practice the timing and hold down an extra button! Add combo key to a button on your keyboard, and add both Advanced Dash and Jump to buttons on the Combo Key selection menu (bottom left of Keyboard Shortcuts). Then just press Advanced Dash's combo key with Jump's combo key immediately after! The only one issue I see with this is you're confined to using whatever button you use for combo key, and the 1-0 number buttons. If you personally can get used to it, then that's nifty that doing this is an option!

@@2crazed4u Cannoneer is it's own class! Still part of the explorer pirates, alongside bucc and corsair, but in it's own category on character select. Buccaneer is the brawler line of classes (brawler -> marauder -> buccaneer)

Yes, there aren't any classes these days that use Dual stats. All classes technically have a sub stat (sort of, it's a weird system) but they contribute very little and should never be prioritized over main stat

In the grand scheme of things it's not super important, but out of all other available tris you'll be casting often, it's used frequently for animation cancelling a ton of skills. So it'd be nice to get a little extra bit of damage from every time you do that!

Bucc was one of the first classes I got to 200, and it never really felt good to me compared to a lot of the other classes. Super dash is fun, but it always felt like such a burden to have to move hotkeys, use sticky keys or get the timing right for a constantly used movement skill. Too many people play it, so I can't really get into it. Like Night Lord, Bishop and Dawn Warrior. They're just canonically OP classes that literally everyone plays. That apparently isn't an issue for most players, but it's a big negative for me. Also the female ENG voice lines are maybe worse than Demon Avenger's. One more thing. I've only been KS'd badly (when they know they're KS'ing you and they see you on the map but continue to kill everything) about 10 times in this game. I honestly think every single one has been a bucc so far.
