Btw you can stop concentrating on a spell from bottom left under the circular character pic, there is a little icon for concentration spells with an x to cancel them. Noticed you sometimes waiting them out so wanted to point it out :)

I like watching you play BG3. At this stage of the game I'm often thinking "Mapo, time to start using your Elixirs, potions and weapon coating!". But there's no rule on how to play BG3, as in D&D, the only rule is to have fun. (alltough I'm sure Astarion would use poison). *Edit : Oh you used Elixirs, great!!!!

If I remember there is a brief cutscene when you defeat Orin, maybe Otto's Dance prevented it from triggering? I've had that happen using restraining effects with some other characters. Great episode!

It was because he looted her corpse, while in combat. There are a lot of scripts that don't work if you do that, like with Nere's head cutscene.

Descent into Temple of Bhaal and Undercity as a whole is probably one of my favorite locations flavor wise. And I like self-aware writing for SH banter in here, they clearly knew what they were designing and having a laugh at it a bit. No one among Bhaalists even remotely close to sane, like they are all perfectly unhinged. I honestly think that they would kind of appreciate being wiped out, that would really embrace it ;) Cool thing that you found that interaction with Orin's mother. There is also Sarevok's diary somewhere in the murder tribunal location, explaining their weird "family tree". There is actually a lot to unpack here it terms of what makes a "child of Bhaal" in a first place, but when you figure everything out, it would make perfect sense. The answer to your question 2:21:19, and I presume it is an actual question, is yes, you could talk with Helena first, and there would be a specific dialogue for that with Orin, in fact, you don't have to pass the check if you talk to Helena first ;) There is different design for dialogue trees for Jaheira and Minsc when they might (not necessarily must) have something new behind those options that go "I want to ask you something" and "I want to know more about you" or however it goes for Minsc. Same like only SH has "how do you I fare to your estimations" or something. Simply because different character writers add something different and just approach companion interaction differently. In fact, if you look what other character has option "how I'm holding up to your estimations" (wink-wink it is Halsin), that would answer all your questions lol (or Halsin might be just that one cheeky druid who is always like "yeah, Shadowheart is right, what she said") Smallest suggestion about Kereska's Favour, it is better cast at the "start of the day", since it lasts for the whole day. You won't regret it, fits frost wizard Gale nicely.

I always use heroes feast after I finish a long rest, lasts the entire day and gives really good buffs to the entire team

@@jemaselite8076 - Heroes Feast. And then I use Spellcrux Amulet to restore Cleric's spell slot. I'll admit I'm too lazy to use a companion that isn't in the party. For faster usage of items for specific spells I put them on custom panel next to the item that I will switch after usage, if default amulet is Amulet of Healing, then next to it in cells I put Speak with Dead, Spellcrux Amulet and so on - click to switch, use a spell, click to switch back to default, without using inventory - upcast Aid - upcast Longstrider just for multiple targets in the party, cause too lazy to cast every single companion (cause ritual spell, doesn't expend a spell slot) that's basically citizen's morning routine in the Baldur's Gate lmao

More like Sarevok likes to keep it in the family moreso than Bhaal. >_>; As to Orin not being a 'pure' Bhaalspawn (like Sarevok was), Sarevok had his daughter, Helena, and then had Orin with her, so she's Bhaal's grand-daughter by blood and thus not 'pure'. She didn't know she was the product of incest so if you find that out (and the fact that Sarevok told Helena to kill her) she has an epic freak-out to the point that Bhaal forcibly turns her into the slayer form rather than it being willing on her part if she doesn't find out.

for non-CHA based character he built pretty well to have all sorts of different bonuses to mitigate that players who often complain about non-CHA being tough to do checks and thus boring/impossible to bypass fights might really learn something from the approach he has taken

The Orin fight used to be way easier, like stupidly easy, more so on classes that can do high damage each attack. but I find it weird the cutscene that was supposed to happen didn't happen

literally no mechanics were changed in this fight, unless we are talking Honor Mode which makes this fight, especially if you go blind, just wild experience

@nickrubin7312 weird because i could of sworn the fight as really easy the first two times i did it alone on normal mode last year but when i was in co-op doing the fight, i think some update made the fight harder, so i couldnt just smite orin to death.

@@iamboringvideos6832 he is on tactician, nah, outside of HM, the fight is the same mechanically and difficulty wise, they didn't change a thing (boon always gives unstoppable, bhaalists always perform a ritual with sanctuary on them, Orin makes same moves with jumping to make prone, multiattacks and all that)

@@nickrubin7312 i know he is, still i remember It being a lot easier, at least before my co-op run, but I guess its due to a lot of Divine smite which does a lot of damage per hit, only takes a few minutes max to take her down, but yet again I only ever did play on normal (I'm no DnD pro)

@@iamboringvideos6832 smites will do that :), there is a brute force approach through all the "unstoppable" stacks, and the long approach with stopping the ritual and stopping her getting stacks, if you don't have enough burst damage plus tools to remove unstoppable easily like Magic Missile the thing is that, and that's why I mentioned tactician (you can check bg3 wiki for this as well) - Orin has only 7 stacks of unstoppable, while on tactician she has 12, that is why you were able to do burst easily, because she has fewer stacks that you have to remove - Orin has Legendary resistance on tactician, she doesn't have that on balanced - She has 175 HP on Balanced vs 238 HP on tactician, that's why burst damage like smites, after you remove 7 stacks of unstoppable (against 12 on tactician), will just do the job quicker

Good work with the fight and that was an intense persuasion roll. I hope the remaining act 3 still feels enjoyable since you smashed a good contenter for the toughest and most epic fights before the end game. Still lots to find and explore (: Magic missile is a great spell but i like Mapo gnome has his own magic missiles with his fists of fury

Oh, idk, I can think of 3-4, maybe 5 that are more epic (and 3-4 of them tougher), but that's how bosses in act3 go, each could be proven a challenge for any player, because 1st time, especially blind, they "check" different things about player's overall strategy and play style that player went for the playthrough. With magic missile, ray of scorching and all that multi-attacks for a single target (one hasted caster with magic missile easily removes 12 unstoppable each turn), Orin isn't that difficult to kill without even stopping Bhaalists chanting for the ritual. But, if you don't go for these, and don't figure out the way around sanctuary and know how it works (I mean they are obviously position on the edges for the player to figure out pushing them into the chasm with AoE), Orin will make you sweat (seen some playthroughs and plenty of posts that struggle with her)
