I found the greatest tool in the world. I bought an Induction Bolt Heater. I paid about $200.00. Professional versions start about $5-600.00. I love it it only heats the metal and not the plastic and rubber near by. It's a lot safer, especially in tight spaces. I bought it to do a water pump on an old Ford that is notorious for snapping bolts. After that job, I figured it was paid for.

Unless you plan on adding oxygen to MAP-Pro gas (for welding), it's not cost effective vs straight propane. MAP-Pro gas (without oxygen) burns only 200ºF hotter than propane (3800ºF vs 3600ºF) but the cylinders are about 2½ time more expensive (HD prices).
@AdamLucasYT
@AdamLucasYT 27 күн бұрын
You are probably 100% correct but it sure seems like these map pro torches burn significantly hotter than my propane torch. Maybe it's just my imagination though. I'll keep that in mind though in the future, thank you.

Propane alone is not enough for 95% of stuck fasteners in my experience. The remaining 5% could have probably been undone without heat. You need to get the fastener glowing red. That extra 200º gives you a better chance that you'll be desperate for if you don't have an oxygen setup.

While on a ski mountaineering trip, at a hut high on a glacier in the Canadian Rockies one winter, I had the same thing happen to a small camp stove. It was leaking and the entire table burst into flames. I grabbed the small propane tank, walked to the door, and threw it down the glacier several hundred feet. Once the source was gone the fire went out and the hut was saved. If the hut had burned down we might not have survived the night.

Self inflicted I'm sorry. You MUST tighten the handset properly to ensure no leak. Only exemplary safety measures by the manufacturer saved you from setting the whole cylinder vulnerable to the fire. Read the associated safety information and the handling instructions before use, always strictly adhering to those instructions. THUMBS DOWN !
@AdamLucasYT
@AdamLucasYT 27 күн бұрын
The torch was installed on the tank and never once removed. This has absolutely zero to do with it not being tightened properly. Otherwise it would have blown during one of my previous uses. The seals failed from age or storage conditions. Still my fault, but your assessment is wrong. The lesson here is to remove the tank after each use and be sure those seals look good before putting a tank on. And then be sure you don't hear a leak.
