MAPPED - GrossGlockNer Adventure - DISASTER! - Day Eight / Part Thirty One - Triumph Trophy 1200SE

Welcome back to MAPPED and a whole new tour series! This is the 2023 GrossGlockNer Adventure!
Fair warning! This will be a LONG series!
This adventure is over 2 years in the making! I was due to go back in April 2020. Then the unexpected happened and the world came to a stand still - throwing all my plans out the window!
I am riding in a loop, across Europe, taking in France, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Northern Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxemburg and Belgium. The primary goal is to get to the GrossGlockNer!
The tour will cover approx. 2,500 miles. This is my first time overseas, on two wheels, and I have two weeks to cover it all.
Oh, and I am doing it solo - on my trusty 2016 Triumph Trophy 1200SE. Here we go! Hope you enjoy the series!

Yep had the same thing happen on my Trophy. Luckily i wasn’t too far from home and I managed to stick it into 3rd gear and ride home, with some careful traffic management. It was after the fact that a lot of people told me it was a known issue with the Trophy. Well it wasn’t known by me 🤨

Holy s--t .Doesnt look good but I'm hoping it all ends well . Had a puncture on an autobahn once and my insurance breakdown was exceptional. Maybe luck more than anything else . Hope next episode of vlog is good news !!

The dreaded gear lever bolt issue. A very well known weak point on the bike. The same bolt is used for the brake pedal and these are known to fail. I carried 2 spares on my last trip. It would have still been a pain as the broken bolt would need drilled out. I'm guessing you didnt get sorted at the roadside unless that repair guy had not only a bolt extraction kit but also a replacement pivot bolt! Im also guessing you were right about recovery, that sure aint a bike recovery van! It doesn't sound good, and Im expecting the worse, nightmare for you!

I wonder if when the bike was dropped a few times it has contributed to this ? I do hope it was fixable, it's a dreadful feeling enough when it happens in England but for you being so far from home, this is when you are with some else the trouble seems halved, here's hoping.🤞

With the crash bars on the Trophy the gear lever and brake pedal do not make contact with the ground on a low speed drop. The bolt problem is a design issue with Triumph later changing the design.
