For angle preserving characteristic, lines of two colors cross at right angles after mapping. When they do not, they are in different branches folded on each other, or failing for numerical error (isn't the last one the severest?). I wonder how shapes in between are calculated. Thank you for sharing great video.

Let w=a+bi, put this into function f(z)=z^2 then, we can get w^2=(a^2-b^2)+(2ab)i Let Pi=(a,b), Pf=(a^2-b^2, 2ab), respectively initial position, final position. Let T(time) increases from Ti to Tf, Let F(factor)=(T-Ti)/(Tf-Ti) Let Pt(position at time t between initial and final)=F*Pi+(1-F)*Pf This animation shows Pt changing from Pi to Pf, and again to Pi, for every position on 2d grid, for every mapping function. + I remember I learned so called "conformal mapping" in my undergraduate engineering-math class, It was very long time ago haha. Now I love to use ChatGPT, it tells me that "Holomorphicity" and "Non-zero derivative" are the conditions to be "conformal mapping".

Thank you for commenting, do you mean "z^(1/2) mapping" should have left side? (Re(z)
@HJ28_3984 күн бұрын
@@CGBurgerStash 👍 You can only graph sin(z)? As in the graph from the video, or just with z=x? Desmos can't do imaginary functions and it gets angry at you when you try. But you can do workarounds that make you feel like either a genius or a conman when they work. One example of a conman strategy is using tan(arctan(I,C)/2) instead of doing any big funky maths, to get a gradient with half the angle of an original one.
