I love the Nintendo Famicom version of Mappy :) This is my favorite version of the game next to the original Arcade version. The Famicom/NES usually has really great Arcade ports, and this is no exception. I recently played the MSX and the Sega Game Gear version of Mappy, while they're great versions of the game as well, The original Arcade and the Famicom version are still the best versions of Mappy I ever played. Overall, Mappy is a really spectacular game, out of all the Arcade games, Mappy is a huge favorite game of mine. This game is really cool and it's still lots of fun, even to this day. It still boggles my mind how underappreciated this game is compared to other popular Arcade games, including Namco games. I honestly have much more fun time playing Mappy than Pacman.

Finally, someone who plays the game right. You save the high-point items for the end of the round, when the multiplier gets big. The point values are: 1) Boombox (100 points) 2) TV (200 points) 3) PC (300 points) 4) Framed painting (400 points) 5) Safe (500 points) It's hard to find a balance, at least in the later rounds, between scoring the maximum points and keeping your mouse safe. I guess that was the designers' intention.

You'd be quite wrong, Mappy is a Micro Police Mouse, he is gathering items that Goro (Nyamco) and his cat cronies stole and hid in houses. The storyline of nthis game is not at all hard to find, and even back in the day, we knew Mappy was the good guy.

@@Thewolfguys.cartoons2000 Um, no, it's common arcade games back in the day to be very challenging and difficult. That's the main reason why it's such a huge deal someone made the highest score in Pacman or Donkey Kong, just because how brutal they are in the first place. Actually, to be completely honest, Mappy is actually quite an easy game compared to other Arcade games like Dig Dug and Pacman. I mean, Mappy is still a very challenging game, but still. Frankly though, that's one of the reasons why I love Mappy so much, it completely balances out the difficulty and fun factor. It's challenging, but it's not challenging to the point it's frustrating, it's really fun.I have no idea why the Famicom version of Mappy didn't make it the NES. I guess it kind of has to do that Mappy is a bit more popular in Japan than in the U.S and Europe. Which boggles my mind.. I don't know how a great game like Mappy become obscure in the first place.

@@carmenherrera8812 I think the reason why Mappy wasn't popular in the US was because of the year the game was released in. Mappy was released in 1983, and you know what that means. It was the year of the infamous video game crash caused by Atari. The crash made some arcade games unpopular, games like Congo Bongo, Pac & Pal and of course, Mappy.

The goal in Mappy is straightforward. You get all the stolen items, which are stolen from the cat gang(Goro and the Meowky gang). Get all of the stolen items to beat the level and don't let the cat gang get you. You bounce on trampolines to go to any of the platforms. Use doors, and trampolines to defend yourself from the cat gang, doors are used to attack them(You can also use doors to slide yourself as well). The doors open the direction the doorknob is facing. Use the trampoline to also protect yourself from the cat gang(The cats only damage you if you're on the platform). Don't jump the trampoline too many times though, each bounce changes the trampoline's color, if you bounce on the red, it breaks. Use microwave power doors, it throws sonic-boom wave. If it contacts the Meowkies or Goro, it throws them away temporarily and gives you bonus points. The more Meowkies it contacts, the more bonus points you gain. It's a really great game, I recommend to check it out. It's challenging, and it's also really fun.
