@@curly-d23 I'd definitely recommend all the ones people have already said. Ghost in the Shell (the original film and the Stand Alone Complex reboot), Ergo Proxy, Akira, and Texhnolyze. Here are some more recommendations to consider, though not all of these are specifically cyberpunk, nor are they all from the late-90s and early 2000s: Even though it is commonly considered more of a "giant robo" anime, I'd put Neon Genesis Evangelion on this list, simply because of just how much of an existential mindfuck it is. I'd also recommend Battle Angel: Alita. The manga is far better than the anime, which sadly only explores the first arc of the series. It's from 1993, so it is technically a different era, but still really good, though. The same goes for Bubblegum Crisis from 1987. Definitely a classic cyberpunk anime series. Worth the watch, for sure. I'd argue that the OVA series Macross Plus has some cyberpunk themes, even if it is debatable whether or not it is actually a cyberpunk anime. Still has that very Japanese "Neo-Tokyo" vibe at times. Although more post-apocalyptic with some fantasy elements, Wolf's Rain is a good choice, too. For a "slightly" more modern cyberpunk series (2012), check out Psycho-Pass. For other early-2000s era anime that are a must watch, but not specifically cyberpunk (more psychological thrillers than anything), check out Boogiepop Phantom, Paranoia Agent, and Perfect Blue.
