I'm sure if Japanese Pro players rises, they might even rival China in terms of skill (Not being stereotypical of Asian here)

The thing I've just realised is that who joins dota2 communities, they are able to speak English. It's quite obvious that even Japaneses are mostly conservationist, speaking English isn't easy to them, but these do.
@goodisgood1535 жыл бұрын
According to siblings(who live in japan) apparently the new generation or mostly the millennial and up know how to converse in english(probably the influence of improved education and internet) I would also agree that while coutries who have english as their secondary language don't talk fluently or a bit jittery when it comes to conversational english doesn't mean they don't know them. They just lack the opportunity to talk english rather than their native language (i can confirm this as i am bilingual with english being my secondary language)

@harryweisner99x6 жыл бұрын
@@jdoe3006 I'm just saying to call it heaven on Earth is a bit of stretch. Another bad example for Japan is it's 99% conviction rate. Or it's age of consent. I agree there are far worse places but it's hardly a utopia. Closest country to a utopia imo is probably Switzerland, over 50% of crimes there are traffic offences. Although it's main exports of tobacco and guns seem pretty distopian lmao.

My city had a similar tournament. Started out small and grew over the years always hosting Dota2 as one of its games. It was one of the reoccurring yearly highlights of my life, a tournament in a giant room jam packed with other gamers getting big sponsors. Eventually other games kept joining and new faculty replaced the old. The LoL faction started outgrowing other games. It got to a point where Riot was sending in so much support that Dota was removed to make room for more LoL. I regret not being part of the faculty when an offer was given to me because my feedback was ignored in retaliation to the shutdown of the Dota2 tournament. I wasn't the only one to protest. Support outnumbered other games they had but the new faculty was blinded by their own bias to change their mind. The excuse of "lacking numbers" when it was really 2 years of no advertising and turning the cheek lead to its inevitable downfall. When Mara said he hosts the tournament because it keeps the small scene going and the people enjoyed it which keeps him going, that really hit home. In a world swarmed with LoL and my own community betraying our own small Dota2 scene, I respect this man for his continued effort to keep it alive!

valve really should try to fund tournaments around the world. valve makes these kind of community videos, and meanwhile 100s of other dota communities barely scrape by with small prizepools, which is a bit hypocritical. I think it will give people a bigger incentive to become pro if there are more goals in reach of them.
@chikin61466 жыл бұрын
I don't think valve will randomly throw out money like that. From a business standpoint, It's a big waste of money and placing a tournament on a place like Japan for example where the DOTA community is small will only yield loss than gain. Would you go to a LOL event hosted by RIOT if there's one literally right next to your house? Would a non-esport fan got to a DOTA event? Not likely.
