Heres sweet adorable Mara on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Mara is on to promote her movie "Miracle On 34th Street". Please excuse what seems to be a few brief video glitches. This is from my collection.

Asking a child about boyfriends never sits right with me.
@Bobbiecarter233 жыл бұрын
I think sometimes it’s to get a funny reaction from the kids. But other times the adult takes it past that and it becomes weird. But he didn’t seem to keep talking about it here I was so scared he was going to though 🤣
@laboricualoka123 жыл бұрын
Same. Especially girls. It hypersexualizes the relationships they have with boys. Works the same the other way around. It makes it incredibly uncomfortable growing up to keep friendships with men. As I am sure it affects men's relationship with women that are platonic.
@champagnemusicmaker3 жыл бұрын
She mentioned recently in an interview how it made her uncomfortable to be talking about boyfriends at this age and how the media sexualizes girls. You can tell she’s embarrassed and Leno keeps pressing her about it. Dude, she’s in 2nd grade, why is it normal to think she’d have a boyfriend?

It used to be a part of culture and the whole point was to get a funny reaction

It's disgusting. Asking a 8 or 9 year old this is just gross. Honestly any age as a kid would be uncomfortable to be asked that.

I agree! Mara’s voice as a little reminds me soooo much of the voice of this girl I was friends with as a child. My friend did not look like Mara at all, but she had sort of a nasal lisp voice like Mara.

So cute! I wish child stars were still like this--just down to earth and not overly precocious. Mara sounds and acts exactly like a first grader you might run into in real life--sweet, funny, and excited to talk about her family vacation. Child actors these days seem false for the most part, and too smart for their own good. I'm glad Mara appears to have been one of the few lucky ones.
@morbidsearch4 жыл бұрын
I swear some people on this site have to make everything a case of "things were better then than they are now"
@Rose322854 жыл бұрын
The way this particular actress turned out isn’t necessarily the result of the era she grew up in. There are still some down to earth child stars out there today (although I do think the increased social media outlets invade their privacy in a more unhealthy way than ever before). I think Mara had an advantage because she was encouraged to continue her education and pursue interests/passions beyond just acting (in her case, writing). That’s something that parents of child stars can (and should) still try to ensure for them. The time era they’re in has nothing to do with it.
