Same. Especially girls. It hypersexualizes the relationships they have with boys. Works the same the other way around. It makes it incredibly uncomfortable growing up to keep friendships with men. As I am sure it affects men's relationship with women that are platonic.

She mentioned recently in an interview how it made her uncomfortable to be talking about boyfriends at this age and how the media sexualizes girls. You can tell she’s embarrassed and Leno keeps pressing her about it. Dude, she’s in 2nd grade, why is it normal to think she’d have a boyfriend?

So cute! I wish child stars were still like this--just down to earth and not overly precocious. Mara sounds and acts exactly like a first grader you might run into in real life--sweet, funny, and excited to talk about her family vacation. Child actors these days seem false for the most part, and too smart for their own good. I'm glad Mara appears to have been one of the few lucky ones.

I swear some people on this site have to make everything a case of "things were better then than they are now"
@Rose322854 жыл бұрын
The way this particular actress turned out isn’t necessarily the result of the era she grew up in. There are still some down to earth child stars out there today (although I do think the increased social media outlets invade their privacy in a more unhealthy way than ever before). I think Mara had an advantage because she was encouraged to continue her education and pursue interests/passions beyond just acting (in her case, writing). That’s something that parents of child stars can (and should) still try to ensure for them. The time era they’re in has nothing to do with it.
