Seth James DeMoor It’s my pleasure Seth. I’m involved with the trail community out here in the west coast Vancouver area and since finding your tube I’ve been encouraging my peeps to peep you. Reason being, most importantly, is you have genuine legitimate advice and back it up. Your energy helps as well.

Began running 4 weeks ago. Just ran my first race yesterday- nyc central park half marathon. Ran at an easy 9:50 pace to be safe, as I've had some knee and hamstring issues. Epsom salt helped but still walked like a penguin all day today. Can't wait to recover and starting putting in those daily single digit miles in again!

Seth, as I've only been running consistently for a short 4 months your advice and instruction on recovery and all other running related topics has helped me enormously. I really am enjoying this sport and hope to do it for many, many years to come. I wish you good luck on your races this year and am anticipating performances that merit the effort and desire you show in your daily vlogs. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's vlog! From memory, I think I actually came to your youtube channel when I first researching on shoe reviews and I think it was via a Jami's reviews video the feed went to one of your videos next. Since then, I've been an avid watcher.

At 45 years old I’m in my 3rd year of running. Just getting serious about training and education since I got a Tom Tom watch last fall. The 8 miles I did this morning was the furthest I’ve ever been. Trying to go under :48 in a 10k this September. Much love to the running KZbinrs. I always go with protein during recovery.

Keyword: Recovery! QD: After a long day I try to relax to the best of my ability and foam roll after the race, the morning after a race, the middle of the day, and the night after the race. It’s just to make sure I don’t get hurt and so I feel very relaxed and prepared for my next run.

QOD.. I actually do this every morning. Before the family get up I make a coffee, put KZbin on the tv, catch-up with my running KZbinrs like you, all while working on the foam roller, stretch band etc. Fantastic start for each day, but especially those recovery days. At 50+ it is more important for me to be active than do a full day of rest (otherwise I stiffen up)

recovery. Yoga, which is also my preventative action. I would not still be running without it. you might find stretching just as helpful, I find I need a plan, a focus and I enjoy the flow and athleticism of yoga, the attention to breathing has absolutely helped me during harder efforts. Because it is a body weight workout, my upper body and core strength has improved. Congrats Phil on your first 20 miler, great job!

Recovery! I prioritize sleep a lot as a highschooler which I think gives me an edge over others. I also roll out the muscles regularly now. This isnt really recovery so much as injury prevention but I also like to do my strides in spikes or flats whenever possible to keep my feet used to less cushion.

Recovery: QD: After long runs I use F2C Nutritions REHAB 3:1 immediately afterwards. Light stretching for 10 minutes or so then put my legs up and rest for a bit. Normal life for the rest of the day with a 1 hr nap. Day after a long run is my rest day with core work and oftentimes a walk.

I don't like them (because it hurts/feels so unformable) but after a hard workout/race, but my favorite exercise is....standing squats (no weights)...2 sets of 50/60 (within 5 minutes after the race/workout, this is important), afterward doing them, it feels so good, you can actually feel the recovery immediately. all good!

Recovery, man I first saw the torins on your channel and gave them a shot, and it's rocking my world! My posterior tibial tendonitis feels much better after running in altras. I bought TIMP 1.5s for the trails and torin 3.5s for recovery road runs, and I can't pinpoint why, but they feel amazing! My foot is wide (E2) so it might be the wide toebox or it might be the zero drop...it's working for me at the moment. Running shoes is such a mystery, everyone's feet are different, I love it! Haha! Also Epsom salts are amazing, I use it daily, and I foam roll 30min everyday.

Recovery That even after a workout or race. I perform rolling and hamstring stretch followed by I take a 1-3 percent walk. If I had a 20 miler that night I would walk at least 2 miles. Next Saturday I have a 50k which could be a mud fest. That night I’ll take the dogs for a 3 mile walk then Sunday keep active, Monday normal routine if feel good

After a good long run I actually like to get in a good active recovery. I’ll get in a big glass of chocolate milk after a long run and then actually get in a good walk, say at the mall. I started running “seriously” after my freshman track season in 2017. I ran XC in middle school but didn’t run XC freshman year. I’d like to think I’m an “experienced” runner running 13 mile long runs and hitting 50+ miles per week but not quite. 😅 Always still learning. QOD: I don’t have a usual routine like that but I ran a 13 mile long run Saturday and I took today (Sunday) off and cross trained in the pool.

Awesome seth, great vid. I really liked it. On recovery days, I like a massage. It's like a pro foam roller, but it targets every muscle we work out in a full body workout/run. I highly recommend it. Even the thai variety if you're into some masseuse stretching the old armor :-) just make sure you're honest with the masseuse. If it hurts, tell them.

RECOVERY qotd: Chocolate milk, before I go for a long run I always make sure I have a big carton of chocolate milk back home. Recovery. Once again awesome video as ever! When it comes to DOMS, I noticed that happened when I have several weeks away from any sort of exercise. So consistently is key I think....however, given a day or so at times for recovery is a must. The Placebo effect is VERY power when it comes to your Tumeric and Ginger tea - but even so, if you like the taste, Drink up!! QOD: After a long run...1 thing I do, is not run that day! it ensures I get at least 2 good nights sleep to aide recovery! 9.3k Subscribers - having a party when you get to 10k? Question for you Seth if you get a chance to read this over your many many social media streams, why don't you think you could become a coach? You certainly have a lot of experience and for someone with a history of ultra running - alot of what you know could be adapted to someone who wants to run their first mile to their first ultra? Just a thought.

Yes Kevin! I think the big question is TIME for me. I'd have to sacrifice the daily vlog unfortunately, just not enough time in the day for quality coaching and the vlog...BUT I have ideas on how to overcome this with technology and a little more outside help. Well I see my shoes made it there that's great! the next day after a race I like to take a walk, or go on elliptical machine, something that is low impact. Because your legs take enough pounding in a race, and you need that time to recover. And i take a cold bath, really helped in the past, for my recovery. And i do some rolling and light stretching. And I'm like you seth i like to put my legs up on the recliner to.

@SethJamesDeMoor5 жыл бұрын
Matthew, I think one day a week off per week is fine. I prefer to run everyday for the mental break. Going for a run is just a nice way to unplug for me. Physically I think a day off is not a bad idea, but most especially if you are feeling a little beat up.
