@@runningchannel had a 5k last Sunday, wasn't in best form but got a 20:31 pb which is almost 2 minutes off my previous a year ago!! Which was totally unexpected, I have another 5k in 3 weeks, then a half marathon in 3 months. Marathon isn't until December so training begins for that in August, keep the tips and the key sessions coming!

Good luck in Osaka! You will be too early for the cherry blossoms, but there is a plum tree garden in Osaka Castle Park that should be blooming at that time. Perfect for after race victory photos.

Sarah! Your marathon diaries are addictive! Wow, sooo cool to see you improve times. I have run over 10 marathons and just finished but now I want to try and finish it under 4 hours. My last marathon time was 4:23 but my last 4-5 halfs have been 1:50-1:55 time. So, I have been training hard to get that sub 4 now and I have about 5 more weeks to go. Can you share what exactly did you change between your first and your second to actually go sub 4? I am trying to nail down everything...nutrition, taper, long runs everything to make sure I am ready but would love to know your tips. Thanks!

You're underestimating not only the prep you've put in, but the adrenaline, excitement, and encouragement you'll get from the race atmosphere! You got such a boost from the 50-odd people at the track, imagine the marathon crowd! You've got this!! I'm training for a 12 hour race in May where I'm hoping to do my first slow 50 miler. Realistically, a "fast" 50k might be wiser. It was great to see Tom the camera guy involved in the video!

The thing I love about these videos of yours Sarah (on top of the positivity and general enthusiasm that you always showcase) is that you’re pretty much mirroring my targets. I’m doing my first ever marathon on April 16 in Manchester. Goal is 3:45 but with the feeling (scary feeling) that 5:00-5:10 pace MIGHT be possible. Either way, you’ve been super inspirational and I wish you all the VERY best for Osaka 😊

I've done Osaka Marathon twice (2018 and 2019) where they switched the old route (2018) to the new one (2019). The best thing to do right after the marathon is to have a nice bowl of ramen right after, and a soak in the hot spring or bath tub. All the best in Osaka Sarah! I am doing my training at the moment too for Chicago in Oct. I hope it will be a good run for me, since I will need to adjust well and not suffer from jetlag, since I will be going over from Asia.

did osaka in 2016! the vibes are AWESOME. that year one of the aid stations was manned by shops from a neighborhood food street and there were these japanese grandmas handing out bite sized sweets. a little kid maybe two years old insisted on giving me a candy at around 23km, and then there was this guy on the biggest uphill holding a sign saying "I've lost on the marathon lottery for 8 years in a row"

Very inspirational video Sarah. Loved it. I'm running Newport in 7 weeks. Feel I am a couple of weeks behind where I want to be due to a bad cold and injury a couple of weeks ago. Good Luck Sarah!

I'm currently training or my first marathon, which will be Rotterdam on the 16th of April. I ran a half-marathon in a PB time of 1:24:21 yesterday that I was really chuffed about, but now I'm sitting on the couch feeling very sorry for myself with a stomach bug that's kept me from eating today and feeling really terrible. So, I guess this week will be a rest and recover week before getting back into the training. Keep up the good work Sarah! And remember why you are doing this!

Wow Sarah your running has improved so much in the past year or two. I love your approach to training and getting it done. What a beautiful place to run as well. Keep in mind that the 5 min / km might seem tough now, but by the time you hit the starting line, you'll be better rested and ready to tackle the challenge. No marathons for me right now. I am running Las Vegas (half) this weekend and I've been doing lots of 5K / 10K races to keep my speed. I need to bump up my mileage a bit as I have a few spring half marathons. Good luck in Osaka! Can't wait to see your race report.

Currently training for the Great British Seaside Marathon so not as exotic as Osaka in a months time! Last ran a marathon 11 years ago in 4:15 so anywhere close to that will be great. Aiming for under 4 hours as think the training this time is much better than my younger naive self.

I can relate to hard workout, somewhat. I don't have any specific training goal, just following garmin daily workout and have lack of anaerobic training recently, so garmin prescribed for today warmup and the 4x4 min at 95% of max. hr. Needless to say that I was exhausted after that. And yesterday's snowfall did not made running easier at all. But looking at training needed for marathon I decided that it's not for me, it's times harder and I'm too old for this... At least on this level. Best wishes for marathon!
