There is a boat ramp just south of Bahia Honda on the back country side. It is a public one and was empty both times I went to it while camping at Bahia.

This is the way it is in the Big Bend. Having that park pass is crucial to getting access to some sweet spots. The State Parks are actually pretty liberal offering even after hours pass to locals that they don't advertise on their websites. You have to talk to them.

Steve,you can buy a season pass for Monroe county for $5.00 for the year.That way you don't pay 50 cents every time you go.

We have a family yearly FL park pass and it allowed us to stay in the state parks after closing - it also used to allow us entry before sunrise. Has that changed due to COVID?
@TROPHY-HUSBAND4 жыл бұрын
Fishing the Keys in a Kayak is not as easy as it seems. The water ( current ) real gets moving during tide change. Sometimes it was dangerous if you where in the wrong spot. It was also hard to find deep water. Now I know why you run a Gas Motor on your Yak. Love your Channel got like 6 of you shirts and mask.

Haha damn Steve you're walking in on some of my spots...LOL! Well I'll be fishing down there tomorrow at the Spanish Harbor Bridge doing twilight to twilight fishing! There's going to be lots of activity there according to the trends. Say what's up if you happen to swing by! I'll be the guy with the generator.

Now that you have your State Park pass, please take us back to Bahia Honda. You can launch at the ramp or from the beach. A nice trip would be to go around the whole island, starting on north side, then returning on south side at sunset. There's another launch at Long Key, but a bit of a walk to parking area. Still it's a beautiful inside paddle to the outside where there are offshore wrecks that are great fishing. Also love launching Sombrero Beach, then exploring the mangroves to the west - fantastic tunnels.

These videos are great. It’s good to see you out prospecting spots and it’s awesome to see the area. I’m planning a trip to Marathon later and will be towing down my 17’ skiff. These videos are very helpful for me and I’ll definitely be watching these again as my trip nears.

Awesome info. Here in Key Colony now. Absolutely loving the weather and catching some snapper. Got some toothy critters today, nurse shark, 5 foot cudda, spotted ray, and a few snapper. Hoping this storm front doesn't hit use hard. CAT 1

Everyone looks for spots, if you aren't doing your homework you're wasting even more time fishing. And even if you have legacy spots, you should be searching for more anyway. Personally, I can appreciate Steve's approach. He'll be locking up the drag soon.
