What does it feel like to run the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris? What other #running super shoes are most like this shoe? I compare this shoe to the original Metaspeed Sky, the Endorphin Pro 3, and the Nike Vaporfly next% 2. I do not discuss much of the shoe specs, the drop, the upper (other than the fit) because there are other channels who can do it more justice like The Run Testers and The Doctors of Running, even Kofuzi and Believe in the Run, who puts a nice balance of specs and underfoot feel. I am only mostly just concerned with describing what it feels like to run in the shoe in an entertaining way. What is said in this video is true for me and I understand it may not be true for other runners. Remember, I'm a JAG. I am no pedo -authority.

Just took my Edge Paris for a HM PB! It’s very bouncy and helped immensely in those latter miles and had plenty of juice for a fast finish. I like it even more than Alphafly 3 😁

It’s such a smooth ride up front. I definitely would take this for HM and down. I am going to when I finally start racing 5k and 10ks, which I’ve never done . Do you think you’d take them for the full distance ?

@@MidLifeRunner it’ll be my first marathon, and it’s currently slated to be the shoe for it! I’ve taken it up to 18 mile training runs and no issues.

Thanks for sharing, I have 2 of the OG Skyand the Edge + and. does it fit the toe box area the same? I'm a M10 in both. 2. how is the ride vs the OG Sky vs Edge+ or Sky+. I like the AF3 a lot for half and above races, But find its best for racing as it wears down quiclkly. The Edge Plus has 100m on it and still looks good on the tread and feel, but it's a little to stiff for a full M but have a course PB in it as well. Thanks for any feedback.

@@kalvin. Up to 18m says a lot as that's close to the last push of a Full for me anyway, I have high volume toes so it's a perfect fit in the past at size 10 for me but maybe 10.5 if the toebox is shallow vs other Asics metaspeeds.

@@ericwj7 I’ve not tried the previous Metaspeeds so I can’t comment on the fit, but I have the Superblast with the previous gen FF Turbo. The Paris series shoes have a softer midsole, where the original FF Turbo for me felt the best going at threshold or faster but not as nice for marathon paced work. The Turbo+ feels better at a wider range of paces but still on the aggressive side compared to some other super shoes.

Great review, Andrew! I have a pair of metaspeed paris and wish Ive gone a half size up, it’s a little snug up in the toe box. Nonetheless it’s the shoe I am wearing for the upcoming marathon.

So Past Metasppeds the toebox was just enough for me in a M10, is the snug toebox more shallow then previous ones like the edge/sky+? or just shorter by a tad bit?

Dude, this shoe is definitely intriguing… really appreciate your awesome breakdown in explaining where it fits in the world! I don’t have a ton of experience with ASICS, but the uppers are kinda strange for me. Maybe for $250 these are different??

The upper is the worst part of the shoe - the midsole and ride is fun but the upper is a bit of a miss from a fit perspective

Update - I actually was able to test run both the edge and sky at the asics store in NYC running along the west side highway - sky very fluid and easy and could speed up if need be or slow down and EQs not affected by it - very natural run for me. Then took the edge out - bouncier and felt like the shoe wanted me to do want it to wanted to do and felt the landing and then spring up. However this was not a natural feel for me and actually felt a little sore above my left knee - the impact with the ground was different and takeoff so went with sky.

@@MidLifeRunner- yeah it actually came down to what felt like a better run and looking to use them on 1/2 to marathon distances - I guess my body told me which one to choose.

I have a pair of sky Paris sitting in the box right now, they were my rebound shoe after missing the Alpha fly 3. I really like the OG sky so I was pretty confident I made a good choice but now your whole spiel has me confused again. Maybe I should run in them? I've just been waiting for them to clear all the damn gravel away from the winter.

Can’t speak to the Sky. I’ve heard they’re very similar and they’re definitely solid rebound shoes . I almost stooped to the cloud boom echo 3 after the first alphafly 3 launch fail. Glad I didn’t . I ran in them this morning . I do love the edge but maybe not for the full distance

Just watched the Paris Marathon and the winners looked like they were wearing the Sky Paris - in fact watching most of the elite runners since these have come out - I have seen quite a few, actually most wearing the sky not the edge. Yes they are elite but they could run in both and yet the sky seems to be winning in terms of elites running in these shoes.

I guess the sky makes sense for the elites since their more stride-driven but for most runners, maybe the edge helps them out better. Also his comments about wearing edges for marathons may make sense as to why more wear the sky for a marathon distance-when past 20 miles - maybe the sky does more for you and more "forgiving" helping you with that last 10k vs. the edge where you have to run in the shoe a certain way to achieve results vs running your own style.

PS. You also clarified snappy vs bouncy and what results respectively in responsiveness and energy return better and more concisely than I’ve seen. Question: as a very petite lightweight runner with a naturally very high cadence (180 and up) who is using the Endo Pro 4 next wk in Boston after getting along well with v3 last year, do you think the Edge Paris would still be less ideal for full marathons? I might consider it for HM and shorter but for shorter I have the Takumi Sens which are perfect for me-possibly even up to HM though I haven’t done that yet.

I have edge but am seriously contemplating the sky's for marathon distance - also do use the TS 10 and Pro 3 for 1/2's and shorter runs.

@@042766Thanks for that feedback. I should have a chance to try the Edge Paris back to back next weekend against the Sky Paris which I tried briefly a few weeks ago.

It doesn’t have the support and roll through that Saucony nails. The Paris feels bouncy and good - I tend to think Kofuzi is correct in that most people will enjoy the Sky more. I love the takumi Sen 8(2 pair). I also use vaporfly2 for longer intervals and tempo. i will use the edge in place of vaporfly 2. the good feels of the takumi sen in a super shoe body.

I just ran the Boston Marathon in my edge Paris. It 's not a good race especially after the Newton hill because of the heat. However, I feel the shoes are GREAT for marathon distance. Except that I need to keep reminding myself to keep my pacing but not too fast.

I ran London Marathon in a PB 2:38 in Edge Paris averaging 195 cadence. Thought they were great for a marathon, at least for my running style, ran a negative split also. Previous favorite shoes were Edge+ but never did a full in them, I ran Sky+ for NYC Marathon but didn't feel they helped me as much.

@@MidLifeRunner Yeah I tend to agree with the video, a marathon runners running shoe. As much as I loved the Edge+ I was always scared by the reviews saying maybe it's not a marathon shoe and that's why I raced Sky+ in NYC. I think I would have raced Edge+ in London if the Edge Paris had not been released however after getting a PB in a Half Marathon in it also. I'm 2 stars only as I've done London 3 times of my total 4 marathons. Chicago in October for number 3 tho! Thanks for the video!

Amazes me that no one is talking about the instability of these. The forefoot is amazing but if you dont land there then the narrow midfoot and bevelled heel put a lot of stress on my achilles. I'm a heavier runner and had to work too hard on my form. I find the Sky Plus so much more stable but less exciting. Unfortunately I had to send the Paris back.

Yes, I really have to focus on the landing and form. I can do that for 15-25min for a 5k, which the edge Paris is intended for , but I can’t do 26.2 in it . It’s a niche shoe .

@@MidLifeRunner I don't think the Edge is intended for shorter distances. I think it purely depends on your preference. I found the Edge rolled better and I could see it working better for tired legs.
