I think there's an important distinction between "it's possible" and "it's effective". When I say "it works", I think of the latter. That said, if there is one thing I could change in the Crucible, it would be having it not consume a charge to glory kill staggered demons. Just so you could finish them off in style.

I still think a parry mechanic and few more actual melee moves would make the crucible more interesting. Like for the marauder specifically, Maybe the ability to parry reflect his axe throws and if you aim and time it right it passes through the shield and does a hard falter. And instead of 3 charges of instakills, you get a support melee that can parry projectiles and does actual melee junk with the instakills only being available once charged. Slowly charge by parrying attacks or quickly charge by doing heavy and super heavy kills. Also I like the idea that since it's an actual melee weapon now, enemies can melee block for lower damage or you can time attacks to get falters and big damage to make openings for combos. Or just combo it with the arsenal and to essentially delete it. Iunno just my toilet thoughts on how to make it actually fun to use.

I will always see Doom Slayer from 2016 as superior to Doom Slayer from Eternal. He’s smart enough to carry around a pistol because he knows that somehow it has unlimited bullets. And he’s strong enough to actually hurt a demon when he punches them. Edit: I have changed my mind. The gameplay loop of Doom Eternal is significantly more satisfying and enjoyable. It’s challenging in a fair capacity.
